Anthony Davis: Projecting the Kentucky Star's NBA Career

Trevor LowryJun 7, 2018

In case you don't own a television, Anthony Davis has been the talk of the upcoming NBA draft. There really is no doubt in anyone's mind that Davis will go No. 1 in the draft.

Yes, he is that good.

Davis led the Kentucky Wildcats to a national championship this year. Read on to find out how Anthony Davis' skills project as a pro.

Offense

1 of 3

Anthony Davis may not be the most explosive scorer in the draft, but his offensive game isn't too shabby.

Davis averaged 14.2 points per game this year, which is pretty impressive considering all of the talent that Kentucky had.

He has a relatively good shot, but don't expect him to knock down a bunch of three-pointers. Davis' offensive game usually comes from around the basket. He could add some strength, which would help him in the post, but he still will jam the ball home whenever he wants, thanks to his lengthy body and size. This also allows Davis to shoot over just about anyone in the game

Davis may stand at 6'10'', but despite that, he is actually a pretty good dribbler and can penetrate.

Defense

2 of 3

There is no question that Davis can play defense. Davis is the absolute man in that department.

He dominated the boards this year, averaging 10.4 rebounds per game.

What made Davis so special is the fact that he was easily the best shot blocker in the nation. Davis' 4.7 blocks per game speaks pretty loudly in his favor.

There is not one single player in college that affected a game quite like Anthony Davis. Teams were afraid to drive the ball into the post or even pass it to their center, for that matter, when Davis was on the court. That is how much of an impact he had on defense.

Davis is the only person who can have just six points in the national championship game yet  still win the MVP award. That is because Davis was in beast mode on the boards, snatching 16 rebounds and blocking six shots in that game against Kansas.

Overall

3 of 3

Davis is easily the best player in this year's draft. There is no denying that.

Davis is a one-of-a-kind player. There are not many centers in the game that can lead a fast break, but Davis can.

Once Davis adds a little bit of muscle, he will be that much better. He does not have to improve on defense one bit because he will most likely dominate on that end of the court in the NBA, just like he did in college.

Davis could use some work on his shot and, in general, his offensive game. If he does, I wouldn't be surprised if this man become one of the NBA's elite.

The sky is the limit with Anthony Davis.
