ESPN 150 Reveals Michigan Is a National Champion in Waiting
By hoarding the best recruits in the nation, the Michigan Wolverines are building a dynasty. Michigan is absolutely killing it on the recruiting trail right now.
They have been grabbing commitments left and right from blue chippers. Still, the total scope of their dominance did not come into full view until ESPN released its list of the 150 best college football recruits for the 2013 class.
Eleven of the top 150 players have already committed to Michigan. That is borderline amazing. To put it into perspective, last year Alabama had ESPN's highest ranked recruiting class and they 13 players on the list. The next closest school was Florida State, and they had 10 players on the list.
And those were the totals when their classes were complete. These classes are just getting started. In fact, at the time I wrote this, only 77 of the 150 have committed.
In other words, Michigan has one-seventh of the committed top 150 players in the nation. Here are the seven.
Players in the ESPN 150 currently committed to Michigan
No. 37: QB Shane Morris
No. 63: CB Gareon Conley
No. 75: LB Mike McCray II
No. 92: OL David Dawson
No. 97: OL Logan Tuley-Tillman
No. 98: S Dymonte Thomas
No. 105: OL Chris Fox
No. 107: CB Jourdan Lewis
No. 112: OL Kyle Bosch
No. 115: DE Taco Charlton
No. 121: OL Patrick Kugler
Seeds of Dominance
These players are the nucleus to a dominant team. The Wolverines have their QB centerpiece in Morris, and they have the offensive line to protect and grow with him—and I mean a whole line. They have five offensive linemen on this list.
Defensively, they have players ready to come in and impact the team on all levels.
And these guys won't exactly be arriving to a team full of holes. Michigan already has a talented and young base. They surprised people with their BCS bowl run last year, and they are clearly ready to take the next step toward sustained dominance.
