Somebody ought to get Derrick Rose a can of repellent spray, because the injury bug won't leave him alone.
Update: Saturday, April 21 at 7:54 p.m. ET
Good news for Bulls fans, Derrick Rose will finally be back in action. According to a Tweet from CBS Sports' Eye on Basketball, Rose will get the start vs. the Mavs.

What most fans assumed is now official, Rose will not be playing against the Heat tonight according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst:
"Derrick Rose is out tonight for Bulls. Luol Deng will play.
— Brian Windhorst (@WindhorstESPN) April 19, 2012"
With three games left after tonight, it looks like the Bulls may keep Rose out of the lineup until the playoffs begin. Getting comfortable in the flow of the game and with his teammates has to be done in the playoffs at this point.
Update: Thursday, April 19 at 1:25 p.m. ET
According to ESPN NBA writer Brian Windhorst, the chances of Rose playing against the Miami Heat on Thursday night appear slim.
"Based on reports from CHI media, doesn't sound promising that Derrick Rose (foot) will play vs. Heat tonight
— Brian Windhorst (@WindhorstESPN) April 19, 2012"
The Bulls are close to locking up the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs and have played well without Rose this year, so there is no need to risk further injury in a regular season game.
Update: Thursday, April 19 at 8:45 a.m. ET
Derrick Rose wisely sat out against the atrocious Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday night to give his sore right foot some rest.
Now the star point guard is being listed a game-time decision to play against the Miami Heat on Thursday night, according to Aggrey Sam of CSNChicago.com
Coach Tom Thibodeau talked for a bit about the status of Rose and starting SF Luol Deng.
"“That’ll be a game-time decision. As you guys all know, I’m an optimist. I think it’ll be good,” quipped Thibodeau. “They’re making good progress. The first guy they’ve got to get by is Fred [Tedeschi, the Bulls’ team trainer]. Fred has to clear them. They have to show that they’re confident and comfortable on the floor. It hasn’t been easy for them, but I think they’re handling everything well and we’ve just got to make the right decision. The most important thing is the team playing well and being healthy, so we’ve got to take care of those two things going forward. So, that’s what we’re going to do.”
"
While the Bulls don't need Rose for this game and can still win the No. 1 seed in the East with a loss; it would be wise to get him more experience against a likely Conference Finals opponent.
Keep it tuned here for the latest updates, news and information on Rose's status for tonight's game up until the 8:00 p.m. ET tip.
UPDATE: Wednesday, April 18 at 6:00 p.m. ET
Rose will not be playing against the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday night. Here's the latest from Nick Friedell of ESPNChicago.com:
"Rose and Deng officially out now. Brewer and Watson start. This is Rose's 25th missed game of the year.
— Nick Friedell (@ESPNChiBulls) April 18, 2012"
Think about that for a second. Rose has already missed 24 games, and the Bulls are 46-15.
They won't need Rose to win No. 47. They are, after all, playing the Bobcats.
UPDATE: Wednesday, April 18, 11:57 a.m. ET by Eric Bowman
Rose continues to battle through pain in his ankle, and just to let everyone know exactly what he's going through, he shared his thoughts with K.C. Johnson, a Bulls insider for the Chicago Tribune.
"DRose: "It’s tendons around my ankle that have fluid on them. The fluid causes pain. I’m waiting for fluid to get out as quick as possible."
— K.C Johnson (@KCJHoop) April 18, 2012"
Chicago is hopeful Rose will be back soon, but the Bulls need to make sure he's truly ready to go. Rose and the Bulls can't afford for any more setbacks, especially with the playoffs right around the corner.
Resting up now to ensure full health for the postseason would be the correct call, but if Rose feels he's good to go then some limited game action would be good for him.
UPDATE: Wednesday, April 18, 10:50 a.m. ET by Donald Wood
After missing yet another game with a foot injury Monday, defending MVP and Bulls star point guard Derrick Rose has been all but ruled out of the team’s Wednesday matchup against the Charlotte Bobcats.
Chicago Bulls insider for the Chicago Tribune K.C Johnson is reporting via Twitter about Rose and teammate Luol Deng’s status for tonight’s game:
"Thibs says DRose and Deng are gametime vs. Bobcats but admits both probably won't do shootaround. So expect both to sit.
— K.C Johnson (@KCJHoop) April 18, 2012"
At this point of the season, it’s starting to get really hard to tell how much of this pain Rose could work through if this were the playoffs. This could be a case of the franchise sitting the star down for every bump and bruise to ensure that he is as close to 100 percent for the playoff run as he possibly can be.
Update: Tuesday, April 17th at 1:00 p.m. ET
According to Nick Friedell at ESPNChicago.com, Rose will make the trip to Charlotte on Wednesday.
"Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose will travel with the team for Wednesday's game against the Charlotte Bobcats after tests on his injured foot didn't show anything significant, according to a source familiar with the situation.
Rose missed his 24th game on Monday. He's been sidelined by a turf toe, back spasms, a groin injury and now a foot injury he suffered on Sunday in Detroit.
"
The Bulls could probably survive against the lowly Bobcats without him, though having him healthy and on the court will certainly come as a relief to the team.
According to Nick Friedell of ESPN, the Chicago Bulls' superstar point guard has come down with yet another foot injury:
"Rose is a game time decision. He went through shootaround but has a new foot injury that is being checked out by team doctors as we speak
— Nick Friedell (@ESPNChiBulls) April 16, 2012"
Michael Lee of The Washington Post reports that Rose will miss Monday's game against the Washington Wizards as a result of his latest malady:
"No Nene. No Trevor Booker. No Derrick Rose. No Luol Deng. Who's ready for #wizards-CHI?
— Michael Lee (@MrMichaelLee) April 16, 2012"
Rose first felt soreness in his right foot following the Bulls' 100-94 win over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, though he was able to participate in the team's walk-through earlier on Monday.
The reigning MVP has already missed 23 games for the Bulls this season, far and away the most time he's spent sidelined during his four-year NBA career. Rose's absence, though, has hardly hindered Chicago's pursuit of top playoff positioning; the Bulls currently own a 46-14 record, with a three-and-a-half-game cushion on the Miami Heat for the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference and a two-game lead on the Oklahoma City Thunder in the race for the best record in the NBA.
The Bulls have already beaten the Wizards twice this season, once without Rose in the lineup.
