Carl Pettersson Wins the RBC Heritage Championship
Carl Pettersson is atop the leaderboard heading into Sunday's final round at the RBC Heritage Championship.
After a blazing six-under-par round of 65 on Friday followed by another spectacular round of 66 on Saturday, Pettersson sits in first place alone at 12-under par.
With big names like Zach Johnson and Brandt Snedeker all lurking behind Pettersson, he'll have his work cut out if he wants to win this title. Pettersson's playing partner, Colt Knost, is at 11-under par just one back of Pettersson.
It'll be interesting to see how the pressure affects the players atop the leaderboard. But knowing Pettersson, he'll be pretty much unflappable if he can play his steady game the way he did the previous three days.
If he can get comfortable out on the golf course and make a few birdies, Pettersson should have this own in the bag. Of course, we've seen so many meltdowns during the final round this year, so Pettersson certainly isn't safe yet.
Here's a quick look at the leaderboard before the leaders tee off later this afternoon:
| 1 | Carl Pettersson | -12 |
| 2 | Colt Knost | -11 |
| 3 | Zach Johnson | -8 |
| 4 | Boo Weekley | -7 |
Here's the leaderboard update as of 11:56 PT:
| 1 | Carl Pettersson | -14 |
| 2 | Zach Johnson | -11 |
| T3 | Boo Weekley | -8 |
| T3 | Colt Knost | -8 |
Carl Pettersson is now at 14-under par, and playing steady golf through the first four holes. He now holds a three shot lead over Zach Johnson who is at 11-under par. Petterson's playing partner, Colt Knost, has had a horrendous start and is currently three-over par for his round.
Here is the final result after Sunday's play:
| 1 | Carl Pettersson | -14 |
| 2 | Zach Johnson | -9 |
| 3 | Colt Knost | -8 |
| T4 | Kevin Stadler | -6 |
Carl Pettersson is crowned champion after a stellar two-under par round of 69, which leaves him at 14-under par. Zach Johnson finishes in second place, and Colt Knost was never really able to shake off his bad start and goes home in third place. Pettersson's lead was never really threatened by any player, and he cruised to his first victory on the 2012 season at the RBC Heritage.
