Scouting Report
Strengths
Pellerin has great abilities as an overall athlete. He’s got extremely fluid hips and can change direction on a dime. He’s also a ballhawk and can read the quarterback better than most corners. He has all the tools to be an excellent corner in the NFL.
He can knock the ball out when he tackles the wide receivers and has a tendency to beat the wide receivers to the ball when he is in zone coverage. Pellerin would be a better fit as a safety and is a very solid tackler.
Weaknesses
He didn’t play the best competition in college but that hasn’t stopped others before. He also is a bit touchy with WR’s when manned up on them. Another issue with Pellerin’s game is his tackling; while he is a sure tackler, he has a technique issue.
Overview
Pellerin is a better fit for the Falcons safety spot than the corner spot. He needs a lot of technique work and isn’t an immediate starter. However, this shouldn’t be an issue for Atlanta as he has a lot of time to learn behind Decoud, Moore and Schillinger.
How he would fit into the Falcons' plans
Pellerin would be solid depth at both corner and safety and would primarily be a free safety in the NFL. He’s a former safety and has a great head on his shoulders. As a former captain, he should allow the Falcons great depth in the secondary.
