NHL Playoffs 2012: Predictions for All of Saturday's Round 1 Games
Everybody should have the opening-game butterflies out of their stomach in time for a batch of Game 2s on Saturday. They will be crucial in determining which teams have the momentum as the series get set to shift venues for the next two games.
Let's take a look at each of the four games on the first day of the weekend and predict which teams will come out on top. If the first couple days are any indication, hockey fans should prepare for plenty of drama.

After going all of regulation without a goal, Chris Kelly scored less than two minutes into overtime to give the Bruins an early edge. The entire game was played at Boston's pace, which left Alex Ovechkin to skate around aimlessly as the Capitals struggled to gain control of the puck.
Washington must open up the game if it wants to get the series back on level ground. The Capitals aren't built to play a defensive style against the Bruins, especially since their goaltending situation isn't ideal. As long as the defending champions keep laying heavy hits, they'll be in good shape.
Prediction: 2-1, Bruins
Senators vs. Rangers (NY leads 1-0)
The Rangers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in Game 1 before allowing two late goals that made it appear the game was closer than it truly was. After a pretty even first period, New York took control in the second and Craig Anderson couldn't hold off the barrage.
It all comes down to talent level. The Rangers were one of the league's top teams all season while the Senators faded away near the end of the season and were lucky to maintain a playoff spot. Look for the Madison Square Garden crowd to be rocking again on Saturday night.
Prediction: 3-2, Rangers
Sharks vs. Blues (SJ leads 1-0)
Martin Havlat found the net twice, including the overtime winner, to steal home-ice advantage for the Sharks. St. Louis was able to secure the second seed because of strong defensive play but, since everybody clamps down during the playoffs, they have a thin margin for error.
That said, they posted a 30-6-5 record at home, so the chances are slim that they drop two in a row against a lower seed. The Blues let the Havlat line get too much space in Game 1. They will fix that issue and level the series.
Prediction: 2-0, Blues
Blackhawks vs. Coyotes (PHX leads 1-0)
The swing of emotions in Game 1 was amazing. After tying the game with 15 seconds left, the Blackhawks proceeded to lose in overtime. Martin Hanzal gave the Coyotes a series lead and momentum heading into tonight's clash.
Even though Phoenix came out on top in the opener, Chicago actually had the better overall performance. If it wasn't for Mike Smith carrying the Coyotes on his back, they probably lose by two or three goals. If the Blackhawks bring the same intensity again, they will tie it up.
Prediction: 3-1, Blackhawks
