10 Things We Miss About Michigan Football
The greatest joys in my life are my friends, my family, my car and Michigan Wolverines football. The first three are a constant, but the long idle months between football seasons are a killer.
To further torture myself and other Michigan fans, here are 10 of the things we miss most about Michigan football (in no particular order).
Uniforms
1 of 10The maize and blue uniforms of the Michigan Wolverines have always been among the most tasteful and timeless in college football. Adidas has taken an old war-horse and come up with aggressive-looking new designs.
Robinson in the Endzone
2 of 10What could be more exciting than Denard Robinson on the option keeper, heading for the corner of the end zone?
The Big House
3 of 10It's the third largest stadium in the world by capacity. With the addition of lighting, exciting night-games will be a yearly occurrence at Michigan Stadium.
The Game
4 of 10Michigan's annual bout with Ohio State is the prototypical rivalry. It was once named the greatest rivalry in sports by ESPN. For players and fans on both sides, it is the most important game of the season.
The Banner
5 of 10Michigan's traditional home-game entrance is a mainstay.
Brady Hoke
6 of 10It feels great having a true "Michigan Man" at the helm again. Additionally, his and Al Borges' play-calling is spot-on.
The Fans
7 of 10Yes, we all look like that. No, we don't...
We love our team, though, and that's what counts.
The Big Ten
8 of 10Without the spirited competition of the Big Ten, we wouldn't have some of Michigan football's greatest moments. The conference produces some of the best matchups on a year-to-year basis.
The Little Brown Jug
9 of 10The Little Brown Jug is the oldest rivalry trophy in college football.
Michigan and their fans are very familiar with it primarily because they have held it since 2006, and for the entire stretch of 1987-2004 prior to that. It has been a constant even through recent years of turmoil in the program.
The Band
10 of 10There is nothing sweeter to a Michigan fan's ears than the marching band playing "The Victors" after a Michigan score. John Philip Sousa (of sousaphone fame) said it was the greatest college fight song ever written.
