Will Brock Lesnar Face Undertaker at WrestleMania 29?
Another WrestleMania has come and gone, and with it, another challenger to Undertaker’s streak.
Come on, you really didn’t think Triple H would be the one to put the Deadman down, did you?
Their match is still being talked about, and with good reason. Both Hunter and Taker brought so much drama and intensity that the bout looked more like a war instead of a wrestling match. The Hell in a Cell did not hurt at all, as it provided a fitting backdrop to a match that had a real sense of finality to it.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
What WWE has been saying seems to be true. This was the end of an era.
However, while it was the end for the generation of workers headlined by Undertaker, Triple H and Shawn Michaels, one distinct possibility for the Deadman’s future opponent has now become a little more clearer.
Here comes the pain.
Brock Lesnar’s return to the WWE fold thus far has more than lived up to expectation. On his first night, he gave the F5 to John Cena, and the next week, he bloodied John, giving whole new meaning to the phrase “smash mouth.”
Fans who love John—I hear they still exist somewhere out there—are likely very pleased with what they’ve seen from their hero. Cena, as we all expected, has no plans of backing down and even gave Brock a bloody smile in response to the punch heard ‘round the world.
Those who hate John—amazing so many people expend all of their energy despising one guy—are also likely very happy with this developing rivalry. After all, John has been laid down by one of the most physically imposing monsters WWE has ever seen.
Just a side note here: I find it quite funny that so many fans are so happy to see John being one-upped by Brock. Cena is still the top guy, he’s still at the center of WWE—no one is even close to replacing him. Brock could have been given to CM Punk, to Randy Orton, to perhaps even Kane or Sheamus. But, he was paired with John, and that speaks volumes about WWE’s continuing faith in their boy to draw money and ratings.
If anything, Cena’s critics should be ticked off about this situation—it keeps John at the focus of the company. Just saying.
So far, it’s been a win-win for both men involved. Fans, if they did not want to see this match before, definitely want to see it now, and the anticipation is likely to swell to a fever pitch as we inch forward to Extreme Rules.
But, now on to a little speculation. Hey, you knew we had to, right?
What happens with the Next Big Thing down the road in WWE?
Though 2012 is just four months old, a lot of fans would love to see Brock win the WWE Championship this year, and then perhaps, as some have suggested, face the Rock at WrestleMania 29, next year. Rocky did claim that he would one day win the gold again, and let’s face it, everything he’s said so far has been right on the money.
Assuming that scenario eventually plays itself out, who will be the man that Brock takes the title from?
CM Punk has received some heat as of late for not being the one that Brock was matched against upon his return, but I for one say that’s nonsense.
Punk’s feud with Chris Jericho is not yet over, and it’s silly to believe those two would have they type of rivalry that they had only for it to end so early at WrestleMania. Will Punk be the man that Brock will defeat to become WWE Champion once again?
The other possibility, of course, is that Lesnar will face off against Undertaker, who will be needing an opponent to defend his streak at WrestleMania.
Truth be told, I have not heard much about this match potentially taking place—probably because, for the past few years after Taker wins, fans inevitably begin to question if he’s done.
The years have caught up with him, they say. There’s nothing left to prove, they say. I say that Undertaker versus Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 29 is a match that I personally would love to see.
Though these two have been friends behind the scenes in the past, they are rumored to have some legitimate heat and that could be exactly what is needed to propel a new rivalry going forward.
Now, before anyone starts asking, or debating the point, allow me to clarify. I am not suggesting that Brock end the streak. Not at all. After all, Lesnar’s current WWE contract reportedly ends in a year, and that is right around the same time as the granddaddy of them all. What better way for Brock to end his last run with the company than to do the job to WWE’s No. 1 draw of all time?
And, for Undertaker, he will have the distinction of defeating 10 former World Champions in the past 12 years at WrestleMania. His place as pro wrestling’s big-money, main-event phenom will be solidified once again.
Then, we can all move on to WrestleMania 30, when Taker will face Jimmy Snuka Jr., who is determined to avenge his father’s loss—the bout that started the streak—in what fans will bill as the End of Sanity match.
Hey, it’s Vince McMahon. Would you really be all that surprised?
Undertaker has alluded to an MMA career, were he perhaps 10 years younger, as he is a huge fan of the sport. His quick staredown with Brock at a UFC event was the moment that got all the talk of Lesnar returning to WWE happening in the first place. Undertaker is the Phenom, and Brock has always been considered a phenomenal performer.
It’s perfect.
Imagine the hard-hitting match that these two would have. They have warred before, it’s true, but this time, with the streak on the line, and their recent heat well-documented, it would be a massive main event for WrestleMania 29.
Here comes the pain. May it rest in peace.
