NBA Draft 2012: Anthony Davis and Best Big-Man Prospects to Be Found in Lottery
There are quite a few talented big men in the 2012 NBA draft lottery, despite the fact that most pundits are only yammering on about Anthony Davis.
Don’t get me wrong, Davis is the best center prospect in a long time. His incredible shot blocking and defensive skills are to be admired, but there are also a number of other bigs that will carve out a nice pro career, but who will be selected after him.
Let’s take a look at these guys.
Thomas Robinson
This 6’10”, 240-pound power forward is going to be more than another muscular, unskilled player at the position in the NBA.
He’s arguably the best rebounder in the country. The 21-year-old was second in the nation with 11.8 per contest to go along with his 17.9 points.
The Jayhawk product is likely to go anywhere from the No. 2 to No. 5 overall spots in the draft and it would be shocking to see such a talented prospect drop any further.
Perry Jones III
PJIII is skipping his final two years of eligibility at Baylor and hoping he can cash in on a solid NBA contract as a lottery pick this year.
The 6’11”, 235-pound forward opted not to declare after his freshman season, when he was widely considered a top-five pick.
Instead, Jones III now has some work to put in before scouts and GMs will trust him in the lottery this year.
He’s got a ton of upside (probably more than anyone in this class) and should have been battling Davis for the No. 1 spot.
The maddening inconsistency that he displays on the court is the biggest reason why he’s projected to go right on the cusp of the first 14 picks.
Arnett Moultrie
Moultrie is a freak athlete who finally put it all together with the Mississippi State Bulldogs after transferring from UTEP following two subpar seasons.
The 6’11”, 230-pound machine piled in 15.8 points, 10.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.8 blocks and steals per game.
He boosted his draft stock in a big way after that brilliant campaign and looks to be a surefire lottery candidate for a team that needs an athletic four.
Anthony Davis
Each team is hoping to win the lottery and therefore earn the right to select this young man.
He’s simply the best prospect in the 2012 class and every franchise in the NBA could put Davis to use.
This kid is bound for superstardom and the sky is the limit.
