USC Football Recruiting: Handicapping Trojan Offers by Position—O-Line

Rick McMahanJun 7, 2018

Although the Trojans' offensive line needs have been largely addressed over the last two recruiting classes, look for Lane Kiffin and offensive line coach James Cregg to try adding at least a couple more "big uglies" to the 2013 class.

Of course, with the NCAA-mandated scholarship restrictions firmly in place, just who these big bodies are remains a mystery, because potential future Trojans may not reveal themselves until later in the year.

In fact, at this point, only four O-linemen have been offered, and others who may have received one by now have been told to wait patiently to see what shakes out for the Trojans.

Because of this, any slideshow featuring prospective offensive linemen offered by USC will be abbreviated and, as such, so will the list illustrated here.

Though short on quantity, let's explore the quality of those big guys who have received that precious offer from USC.

No. 4: Laremey Tunsil

1 of 5

If the Trojans don't land Laremey Tunsil of Lake City, Fla., you can't say they didn't try.

USC has had an offer on the table for the big offensive tackle since he was a fast-rising sophomore in 2010.

And it's easy to see why the Trojans have been so enamored with the 6'6", 282-pound Columbia High School-South product, who is rated a 5-star prospect by Scout.com.

Already large, Tunsil has the frame to pack on much more weight at the next level, and although he is still somewhat raw, he been dedicated to honing his craft.

Unfortunately, despite the Trojans' perseverance, things don't look good for Tunsil to sport the cardinal and gold. At this point, he has Georgia and Florida "high" on his list, while USC joins many others being of "medium" interest.

Odds of Tunsil Signing with the Trojans: Low

No. 3: Na'Ty Rodgers

2 of 5

Though only listed as a 3-star prospect by Scout.com, there is a lot to like about Na'Ty Rodgers, who hails from Pomfret, Md.

Although he is not particularly big at 6'4" and 260 pounds, Rodgers is exceptionally athletic and has the frame to put on more weight at the next level.

At this point, Rodgers holds more than a dozen offers, including those from West Virginia, Florida and Tennessee; he lists them all as "medium" in terms of his interest.

Odds of Rodgers Signing with the Trojans: Marginal

No. 2: Ethan Pocic

3 of 5

In a class light on dominant offensive linemen, Ethan Pocic from Lemont, Ill., stands out for his great size (6'6", 280 pounds) and polished technique.

Pocic, a 4-star prospect according to Scout.com, has great feet and translates well almost anywhere across the line at the next level.

The Trojans are in the mix with more than two dozen other programs for Pocic's services, including Alabama, Florida, Wisconsin and far too many others to list here.

Odds of Pocic Signing with the Trojans: Marginal (at best)

No. 1: Nico Falah

4 of 5

One of the fastest-rising offensive linemen in the nation is St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) High School's Nico Falah.

Falah is a tremendously athletic tackle, and his frame (6'5", 270 pounds) translates well at the next level.

Falah only recently received an offer from the Trojans, and they join Florida, Oregon, Notre Dame and several others for his services.

However, Falah has camped with the Trojans, and though he lists all of his potential suitors as even on his dance card, it is rumored that USC sits at least a bit above the others.

Odds of Falah Signing with the Trojans: Good

Conclusion

5 of 5

Though they have yet to receive an offer from the Trojans, there are two other players fans should keep an eye on.

Sean Harlow, a 3-star prospect according to Scout.com, is the son of former Trojan offensive lineman Pat Harlow, and the Trojans discussed recruiting him at their junior day.

Another player who may receive a USC offer at some point is big (6'5", 320 pounds) Riley Sorenson, who was 2012 Trojan commit Max Tuerk's teammate at Santa Margarita High School in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.

While the 2013 class doesn't feature the abundance of quality offensive linemen that last year's class exhibited, there are some targets out there for the Trojans.

But like every prospect for the next two years, USC can't afford to miss on any of the players they eventually sign. Because of this, don't be surprised if there is little in the way of players signed in this group, although Nico Falah would appear to be the most likely.
