Florida Spring Game: Latroy Pittman Proves to Be Player to Watch for Gators
They say that a first impression is paramount to a relationship's total success. Florida's Latroy Pittman made a great first impression on Saturday.
Pittman caught a 43-yard pass from quarterback Jacoby Brissett on the very first possession of spring football.
Get used to that, Gators fans.
Pittman will be that playmaking receiver Florida has been wanting to see emerge on the perimeter. He has already earned plenty of love from coaches for his play thus far, and it will only continue into the summer and 2012 season.
Florida desperately needs a playmaker to come to center stage, and Pittman holds that key to the puzzle. His ability to take any ball to the house will give the Gators another weapon in their disposal on offense.
He will continue to progress and impress in his first stint in college football. When August comes around, Pittman will prove to not only be a dangerous weapon, but a reliable one.
Florida finished last season 7-6. They had a very mediocre offense; 89th in passing and 73rd in rushing. No receiver on the team had more than 31 receptions or 432 yards.
They need somebody to step up to the table.
Trey Burton was thought to be the guy, but he only caught 19 passes for 149 yards and one touchdown. He didn't have the season many expected.
Judging by how well Pittman played in spring and how well he has done in practices, Florida has a guy capable of being electrifying on the perimeter.
Keep an eye on Pittman going forward. Expect the freshman to make an instant impact in 2012.
