Masters 2012 Leaderboard: Players Who Must Have Terrific Third Rounds
The third round of the Masters is underway, and some golfers, more than others, badly need to have a good day.
Here's a look at who truly can't afford to be kicking their clubs around today.
Speaking of kicking their clubs, Woods desperately has to have a good round.
Sure, there are plenty of other golfers down around Woods in the standings, but none of them have the pressure or scrutiny that he does.
One bad round of golf for most players just gets tossed aside and forgotten about. However, if Woods has two bad rounds in a row, critics will all over him like white on rice.
If Woods is going to make a run on Sunday, he has to relieve the pressure as much as possible, and he can do that with a good third round.
Luke Donald
At this point for Donald, it's not so much about winning the tournament as it is about keeping pride as the No. 1 golfer in the world.
He entered the day at four-over-par, and if he doesn't get things going in the right direction, he might put forth one of the worst performances ever from a world No. 1.
Donald needs to avoid embarrassment and put together two good rounds on Saturday and Sunday. Even if he doesn't win the tourney, a good weekend could ensure him staying at No. 1.
You know, unless Rory McIlroy wins the whole thing, which is more than possible.
Sergio Garcia
We all know about Garcia's final-day struggles. He's finished in the top five of every major tournament, but he's failed to win any of them.
He currently sits in fourth place, and if he wants to finally win a big one, he's going to have to enter Sunday both with a lead and with confidence.
The only way to accomplish both of those is to have a great round today. If Garcia wants to have any chance of winning this tournament, he's going to have to shoot in the 60s today.
