Masters 2012: Lesser-Known Golfers Who Can Make a Saturday Run
Through two rounds at the Masters, no one has separated themselves as a favorite.
There are 18 competitors within three strokes of the lead, and Saturday will be a big day for those behind in the standings to make their push up the leaderboards.
Most fans will be looking towards veterans like Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh to make a run, but here are some lesser-known golfers that could be champions by Sunday.
Nick Watney
He is currently the No. 20 ranked golfer in the world and he has had some success at Augusta in the past, finishing seventh in 2010.
Watney is one of only seven men in the field to finish under par in each of the first two rounds, but now he has to build off that.
A strong start to Saturday will give him the confidence to stay near the top all weekend.
Charles Howell III
Howell was born and raised in Augusta, so he should feel right at home while competing in the Masters.
Although there were lower scores, the American might have turned in the most impressive scorecard on Friday. He finished with 17 pars and an eagle, all in relatively tough conditions.
This is a tough course, and often times the most consistent player will be the one victorious when all is said and done.
Aaron Baddeley
Baddeley was all over the place on Friday, finishing with six birdies, two bogeys and a triple bogey on the fifth hole.
The Australian is a skilled golfer, but has had little success in major tournaments in his career.
With improved weather conditions this weekend, he should be able to get a better read on the ball and avoid large setbacks like he had on Friday.
