Masters 2012 Leaderboard: Power Ranking Leaders' Chances at Winning

Tim KeeneyJun 7, 2018

After two rounds, it's clear that no one is going to separate themselves from the field at the Masters. Fred Couples and Jason Dufner lead at five-under, but another eight golfers are still within two strokes.

Someone has to win.

Here's a look at who has the best shot and who not so much.

1. Rory McIlroy

When someone shoots one-under in the first round and it is largely seen as a disappointment, that's when you know you have a talented golfer on your hands.

That's what happened with McIlory, who started his tournament with a double-bogey and hasn't really backed since, with the exception of a few bogeys.

The young Irishman put together a very impressive three-under today and sits in third place, just one stroke behind the leaders.

The No. 2 ranked golfer has to be the favorite to bring home the green jacket.

2. Lee Westwood

Well, Westwood got his "bad round" out of the way, so he can just go forward from here. After a fantastic five-under first round, Westwood put together a disappointing one-over on Friday.

But, it was a good one-over.

He was mostly just average, as he had two birdies, one bogey, one double-bogey on the final hole and a whole bunch of pars. If he wouldn't have slipped up on 18, Westwood would currently be sitting in first place by himself.

But he did slip up, and as a result he's in third.

Nonetheless, Westwood has been playing some of the best golf in the world this year, as he's already put together two top-10 finishes. As a result, he sits in third place in the world.

I love Westwood's chances this weekend.

3. Fred Couples

That's right, the 52-year-old.

Couples put together one of the best rounds of the tournament on Friday, as he turned in a five-under 67 that put him in a tie for first place.

He put together a similar run last year in Augusta before dropping out on the weekend, but I've got confidence in the experienced player.

The last time he won a major was the only time he won a major and it came exactly 20 years ago at this same tournament. If that doesn't just set up perfectly, I don't know what does.

Couples' short game has looked fantastic so far, and there's no reason he won't be able to keep it up.
