Fantasy Baseball Sleepers 2012: Overlooked Sluggers to Nab in Later Rounds

Ryan RudnanskyJun 7, 2018

Experienced fantasy baseball fanatics know that you need superstars, but leagues are ultimately won with hidden gems. Sleepers distance you from the competition because they come out of nowhere and surprise everybody.

There are a few sluggers out there in the late rounds of fantasy baseball drafts who figure to be stars down the stretch.

Here are three sluggers you shouldn't sleep on in the draft.

3. Yoenis Cespedes, OF, Oakland Athletics

Yoenis Cespedes is certainly a risky add. He's coming from Cuba and has never faced major league competition.

That being said, Cespedes looked good in spring training and appears to be the real deal. He has immense power and has the potential to be a big-time source of home runs.

2. J.J. Hardy, SS, Baltimore Orioles

J.J. Hardy hit .269 with 30 home runs, 80 RBI and 76 runs last season. He's a productive player at a thin position.

After hitting a pair of homers against the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday, it appears Hardy's right shoulder is fine.

Tell me, why wouldn't you draft Hardy?

1. Ike Davis, 1B, New York Mets

Ike Davis was well on his way to a breakout season last year before it was cut short by an ankle injury. In just 129 at-bats, Davis hit .302 with seven home runs, 25 RBI and 20 runs.

This season, Davis is healthy and starting at first base for the Mets.

I wouldn't expect Davis to hit over .300 this season, but he'll be a strong source of home runs and RBI. The No. 18 overall pick in the 2008 MLB draft is just beginning to realize his potential.
