Masters Odds 2012: Bubba Watson and the 3 Golfers Worth Betting on
You don't need to be a rocket scientist (or a PGA Tour expert, for that matter) to figure out that Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy are the best bets to win the Masters. The former two have combined for seven green jackets, while the latter would've had one in the bag had it not been for a back-nine collapse during last year's final round.
That's not to say that the rest of the field at Augusta National is just some collection of schlubs with golf clubs. If you're looking to lay down a few bucks on someone who isn't instantly recognized by his first name, then be sure to give these three guys a once-over.
Bubba Watson
Bubba Watson's game is as big and burly as his name would suggest. The free-swingin' Floridian is tops on the Tour in driving and greens in regulation, and he has the length and strength to get around Augusta with ease.
Watson's been known to play himself out of contention because of his incredible ability to drive the ball. But he appears to finally be rounding into more mature form, as best demonstrated by his three top-10 finishes in seven events this season.
Adam Scott's no longer the budding phenom he used to be, but he's still a damn good golfer nonetheless. The photogenic Aussie finished second at Augusta last year behind Charl Schwartzel.
And that was before he joined forces with Stevie Williams, the Kiwi caddie who carried Tiger's clubs in three green jacket-winning efforts.
Scott's been taking it slow so far this season to prepare for the Masters, though a lack of action shouldn't keep him out of the hunt once his tee time rolls around on Thursday.
Luke Donald
How long is Luke Donald going to keep playing like the No. 1 golfer in the world without winning a Major? He has to take home one of the sport's biggest prizes one of these days, doesn't he?
Doesn't he?
Sure, the 34-year-old Brit isn't flashy or particularly charismatic, but he's got the game to grind out solid rounds and challenge for the top of the leaderboard until the very end.
Donald also happens to be a steady putter, which should serve him well in the most major of Major championships.
