Alistair Overeem Reportedly Tests Positive at UFC 146 Press Conference
Talk about possibly throwing a monkey wrench into the plans for the biggest heavyweight bout of the year. Per Jeremy Botter of Bleacher Report and Caged In, Alistair Overeem has tested positive at the UFC 146 press conference. Here is the tweet:
"Oh boy. Alistair Overeem tested positive at the UFC 146 press conference.

What Does This Mean?
Overeem could be facing a suspension. One well known fighter that faced a suspension for a positive test was Chael Sonnen. His suspension was for one year, but it was later reduced to six months.
If the Reem's suspension is verified, and upheld after an appeal, he could be out of action for a while. That would be a huge blow to his career, and the heavyweight division in the UFC.
Botter later tweeted more specifics regarding Overeem's TE ratio:
"Overeem's TE ratio was greater than 10.

Overeem was set to take on champion Junior dos Santos at UFC 146 on May 26. Obviously that fight is in jeopardy, as now, dos Santos may not have an opponent.
Overeem was a major name and his absence could certainly hurt pay-per-view sales.
What Happens Next?
Overeem should have an opportunity to appeal, but this reported finding came as a result of a random testing that took place at the UFC 146 press conference by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
Because of the nature of the test, an overturning doesn't seem likely.
At this time, no information has surfaced regarding other fighters testing positive.
If this holds up, Dana White will have to find another opponent for his heavyweight champion, and I'd expect to see these random tests continue.
Stay tuned for more information on this developing story.
