Masters 2012: Hunter Mahan and Golfers Looking for Redemption at Augusta
Augusta isn't kind to everyone, but there are a few who seem to love it. Sixteen players have won the Masters multiple times—two of them will be on the course this weekend—and a few others have made runs at it.
There are those who routinely struggle and those who are as up and down as a roller coaster.
Quite simply, the Masters plays favorites to nobody, and it can get the best of the best. And a few of the best are out for redemption this year at Augusta.
Hunter Mahan
The world's No. 4 golfer reeled off two top-10 finishes at the Masters in 2009 and 2010, but didn't make the cut in 2011.
The 29-year-old is currently slated at 22-1, according to Bovada, the sixth-best odds in the field.
Mahan has the talent to make a serious run and will be out to make it to the weekend this year. If he finds a rhythm, he could ride it all the way to a big finish.
Martin Kaymer
The world's No. 6 golfer just wants to make the dang cut at Augusta. A one-time major winner, Kaymer has failed to make the cut at the Masters in four attempts despite fairing reasonably well in other majors.
The 27-year-old German currently holds 50-1 odds despite his inability to make the cut.
If he puts it all together, this could be the year he breaks through.
Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods
And, of course, the obvious choices of Rory and Tiger.
Two of the game's most popular names are on this list for different reasons.
Rory won U.S. Open last year, but his epic meltdown at Augusta wasn't, and won't be, forgotten. The only chance he has to make it go away is by winning.
And Tiger, well, it has simply been too long since he's won a major.
