Michigan State Basketball: Derrick Nix Suspended Following Marijuana Arrest
Michigan State big man Derrick Nix has reportedly been suspended indefinitely after he was arrested on marijuana charges Monday night.
Spartans head coach Tom Izzo said, via CBSSports.com, "He made an irresponsible decision that has put his future with our program in serious jeopardy."
The junior, who played nearly 19 minutes a game for the Spartans this season, was arrested in East Lansing on charges of operating a vehicle with the presence of drugs and marijuana possession, according to the Lansing State Journal.

Operating a vehicle with the presence of drugs is a 93-day misdemeanor, and marijuana possession is a misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of a year in jail.
According to the Journal, Nix was still in a jail cell at East Lansing 54-B District Court as of noon today.
Nix's minutes have steadily increased since his freshman season. He only played about eight minutes per game his sophomore season. He averaged over 17 minutes in the NCAA tournament this year and had a big game against Long Island in the Round of 64, posting 18 points and eight rebounds.
But things don't exactly appear peachy for Nix now. It's a shame, because with Draymond Green leaving for the NBA, Nix had a shot at gaining more minutes next season. Even if he stays with the program, it certainly sounds like he's going to have to regain Izzo's respect.
Nix was a top-100 recruit in 2009, according to ESPNU. He got offers from Michigan State and Missouri. Now the Detroit native finds himself in a hole when he should be rising.
