WrestleMania 28 Review: Daniel Bryan and PPV's Biggest Losers

Adam WellsJun 5, 2018

With WrestleMania 28 in the books, it is time to take a look at the stars who were not so lucky on the biggest night of the year for WWE.

It is hard to be too negative on a night that is supposed to be about fun and celebrating how big this event has become. Honestly, there was not a lot to complain about because the top matches that everyone paid to see delivered.

That said, there were still a few perplexing decisions that left a few stars in a lurch. Here are the biggest losers from wrestling's biggest night.

Daniel Bryan

When fans look at WWE today and wonder where all the stars have gone, all they have to do is look at the treatment of Bryan on the biggest stage wrestling has to offer to get their answer.

It's not even that Bryan lost, it is just the way he lost that makes things bad. Everyone expected Sheamus to go over, but some fans—myself included—figured that if they were given enough time, they could have the best match on the show.

Instead, Bryan turned around into a Brogue Kick right after the bell rang. An 18-second title match to start the show, burying a talented wrestler in the process. No wonder stars in their mid-40s like Undertaker, Triple H and Shawn Michaels have to work this show every year.

Zack Ryder

If there were ever a night for Ryder to get back some of the steam he had lost thanks to being Eve's dork—it's not appropriate for me to use the real word, but you can figure it out—it was tonight.

Instead, Ryder is on the verge of winning the 12-man tag match for Team Teddy, but he got distracted by Eve and The Miz hit him with the Skull-Crushing Finale.

To add insult to injury, Eve kicked Ryder below the belt after the match—another star buried just because WWE doesn't want them getting over.

How is this company still making money?

Lord Tensai

Even though he didn't make his debut last night, Tensai is most likely going to be a sacrificial lamb used to get John Cena back on tract now that The Rock is out of the picture.

No offense to Tensai, who could end up being very good for WWE, but the fans are going to look at the Cena-Rock match at WrestleMania, then realize that Cena is going to be feuding with the star once known as Prince Albert.

It's not his fault, but it would be difficult for anyone to follow-up a feud of that magnitude. Perhaps WWE has some grand plan in place. Given the way stars not named Rock, Cena, Undertaker, Triple H and Shawn Michaels are treated, I wouldn't bet on it.
