Texas Longhorns Football: 7 Recruits Who Will Shine for Mack Brown

Cameron McCauleyJun 7, 2018

The 2012 season hasn't even begun for the Texas Longhorns, but that won't keep die-hard fans from drooling over their 2013 recruiting class.

Mack Brown is once again hauling in a top five recruiting class with many high school stars that can be ranked among the nation's best.

With that being said, you can now take the time to marvel at some of the prospects the Longhorns have landed in the class of 2013. Here are seven players who have verbally committed to the 'Horns and will shine for Mack Brown during their time in Austin.

Tyrone Swoopes

1 of 7

The No. 1 dual threat quarterback in the class of 2013 according to rivals.com, Tyrone Swoopes is a special player who could remind some 'Horns fans of Vince Young.

His 6'4" 220-pound frame is already built for the next level, even if he's spent his high school years playing at Whitewright (Texas) High School (Texas class AA).

Depending on how the quarterback situation turns out in 2012 down in Austin, Swoopes could see playing time early in his 2013 campaign if needed.

He has been a big fish in a small pond and has the tools to shine at quarterback for Texas in the near future.

Jake Oliver

2 of 7

Jake Oliver is a big, physical receiver with good hands is what the video reveals. He should fit in nicely playing college ball for the Longhorns.

The Jesuit (Dallas) wideout verbally committed to playing for Mack Brown back on Feb. 15, over many contenders such as Arkansas and Texas A&M (where his dad, Gary Oliver, was a standout wide receiver).

Oliver should be able to contribute immediately when he steps on the field in the Fall of 2013, much like Jordan and Jaxon Shipley have done. Though he is more talented then either of them were coming out of high school.

Darius James

3 of 7

The top center recruit in the country, Darius James is a big athletic lineman who is gifted enough to play as a true freshman in 2013.

The Longhorns are set at center in the near future as Dominic Espinosa started every game at center as a redshirt freshman in 2011. But that doesn't mean the 6'6" 320-pound James can't find a spot somewhere on the interior.

James is most certainly the crown jewel of a great haul of quality offensive lineman in the 2013 class.

Ricky Seals-Jones

4 of 7

If there was any player on this list that could specifically get 'Horns fans on their feet in excitement, it would probably be Ricky Seals-Jones over the rest. He is simply an all-around football player out of Sealy (Texas) High School (the same school his cousin Eric Dickerson attended).

Being the 30th best player in the country and third best athlete according to 247 Sports, the only thing offensive coordinators Major Applewhite and Bryan Harsin have to worry about is where to put him when he arrives in 2013.

At 6'5" 220 pounds, Seals-Jones is similar in size to Tyrone Swoopes and has played some quarterback at Sealy but will most likely be a full-time wide receiver when he gets to Austin.

Jacorey Warrick

5 of 7

Yet another exciting highly-ranked athlete/wide receiver to grace this list, Jacorey Warrick is considered the seventh best athlete prospect in the 2013 class by 247 sports

Whoever is under center in 2013 for Texas, it is starting to look like they will have some great targets to throw to with the addition of Warrick, Jake Oliver and Ricky Seals-Jones.

This guy is another great talent who is similar to who the 'Horns have now in DJ Monroe or Marquise Goodwin.

Jake Raulerson

6 of 7

A hard-nosed lineman who has seen playing time on both sides of the ball, Jake Raulerson is a guy who could potentially shine for the Longhorns in the not so distant future.

The 6'5" 260-pound consensus 4-star offensive lineman out of Celina (Texas) high school (my home town as well), Raulerson may not have the size yet of some of the other 2013 lineman recruits but has great technique that is unrivaled.

Expect Raulerson to make an impact for the 'Horns here very soon.

Daeshon Hall

7 of 7

A raw talent out of Lancaster (Texas) high school, Daeshon Hall is one of the more exciting prospects this 2013 class has. The guy looks like the next Quinton Coples judging from his highlight video.

Hall is a slim 6'6" 220 pounds, with plenty of room to build on his frame. He could eventually play in the Buck or Strong End positions under Defensive Coordinator Manny Diaz' scheme.

He has the ability to possibly be the next Alex Okafor or Brian Orakpo, as a guy who can wreak havoc and get to the quarterback.

Here is the full list of 2013 verbal commitments to Texas.
