5 Things We Need to See in WWE After WrestleMania 28

David LevinJun 7, 2018

I'm back on the computer, after a few hours of sleep, trying to process what I saw last night at WrestleMania 28.

I am still blown away by Hell in a Cell and the WWE title match.

In an era where I expect matches to be exciting yet lackluster—because of recent gaffes by creative teams, bad writers and the whole "PG Era"—I thought last night put a cap on what was truly the best generation of wrestling in the WWE.

Kudos to Triple H, HBK and Undertaker for giving us one last "great" match. Now, the WWE can move on from the Attitude Era's relevance in wrestling lore and give way to a kinder, gentler wrestling program that adults and children can watch at night and be at peace.

I, for one, am not happy with that.

The thing that attracts me to wrestling, like so many others, is the cutting-edge envelope that was consistently pushed on television and in arenas everywhere. It was like a vice, an addiction and my fix for Monday nights.

Now we must go on. Wrestling must go on. The new "attitude" and new matches must go on.

Wrestlers must take a step forward after a thrilling PPV like this. They must decide to achieve their success from what was started. We as fans demand it and accept nothing less.

Undertaker, HHH and HBK all gave their best, and in doing so, leave us with questions still unanswered. The entire program, although great, left us wanting more.

And because of that, here are five things we must see moving forward.

CM Punk and Daniel Bryan Must Meet

1 of 5

While the idea of "Roddy Piper" and "Randy Savage" meeting again in the ring and thrilling the crowds is one I would take in a heartbeat, now is the time to strike while the fire is hot.

CM Punk just proved he was the "best in the world" to the man who thought he was, and now there is a former World champion who can give Punk the matches he so richly deserves.

Bryan, who dropped the World title in 18 seconds (let that be a lesson to you, if you want to kiss your girlfriend before a match) to Sheamus, is open for another feud.

Bryan could fight in another match with Sheamus (which is likely), but the opportunity for Punk and Bryan is too inviting.

And it makes complete sense.

Cody Rhodes Must Be Better Than Dolph Ziggler

2 of 5

What I mean by this is simple.

Dolph Ziggler lost the U.S. title and was supposed to get a major push from creative to challenge CM Punk for the WWE title.

There was one match, and he was a forgotten soul. Then the WWE brings in Chris Jericho and everything explodes.

Cody Rhodes held the Intercontinental title for 233 days, longer than anyone. He needs a strong showing and a great push against Sheamus and the World title.

So, yes, he must be better than Ziggler.

Injured Stars Must Return

3 of 5

The roster must be complete.

Wade Barrett, Sin Cara, Rey Mysterio, Alberto Del Rio, Christian and others must come back healthy and ready to step in.

With the changes in "management" and John Laurinaitis taking over both brands, there will be some shakeups, confusion and trickery (it adds to the storylines).

But injuries are a part of the business, and when they happen, all hell breaks loose. If veteran stars are back in the lineup, then there is more cohesion.

And we need to see our favorites on screen each week.

A Stable Divas Division

4 of 5

Last night's celebrity match was a joke. Worst match of the night.

Bring some respect to these ladies, please.

Beth Phoenix is the "top cat" in this division, but Eve could be a great performer, and then there is the curious case of Natalya, Kharma and Tamina.

All three can bring credibility to the group. And it also means we don't see Kelly Kelly and the Bella Twins each week in mediocre performances.

Please, someone help. Maybe get Trish Stratus to "help" make the division better.

Attitude Adjustments for Some of the Wrestlers

5 of 5

Now would be a great time to see wrestlers come through.

John Cena turn heel. Drew McIntrye step up. Cody Rhodes take over SmackDown. Wrestlers like Mark Henry and The Big Show find a true place in the brands.

While the big three of Triple H, HBK and Undertaker have left the building, there are still a few "older" characters (Kane, The Big Show, Mark Henry) who are left. Now the question is what to do with them.

McIntyre has to do something quick, or he is useless.

And then there's Cena, who can use the loss to The Rock as the springboard we have all been waiting for.

Come on, John, the dark side is calling.
