2012 NFL Mock Draft: How Ryan Tannehill's Pro Day Drastically Reshapes 1st Round
Ryan Tannehill was present at the Texas A&M Pro Day on Thursday, and the fact that he did a great job means we have to re-shuffle our entire NFL Mock Draft.
Is it possible for scouts to go completely gaga over a player after just a pro day? The answer, in the case of Ryan Tannehill is, they don't have to.
Tannehill has the distinct privilege of being a quarterback headed into a league desperate for them. That means we can expect some giant reaches when one franchise hits the panic button in search for the next great superstar quarterback.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Will Tannehill be a franchise QB? His sample size is too small to say with any certainty at this point, but we have seen enough to know that at least one NFL team will throw their first round pick to the wind and let it all ride on Tannehill.
Here is what that NFL Draft would look like.
1. Indianapolis Colts: Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
I find it funny that the Colts have said they are still undecided about the No. 1 overall pick. I say funny—not pick altering.
2. Washington Redskins (via STL): Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor
The Redskins will get one of two remarkable athletes to lead their offense for the next few years, no big whoop.
3. Minnesota Vikings: Matt Kalil, OT, USC
We conclude the last of our funk-free picks with another safe bet. Matt Kalil is just solid and will man the Vikings line for the better part of the next decade.
4. Cleveland Browns: Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama
We come to the first team that has already been affected by a fine Tannehill pro day, the Cleveland Browns. CBS Sports reports the team is "considering" using the fourth pick on the QB.
I don't see it.
The Browns had a heavy presence at Trent Richardson's pro day, and the former Alabama running back did just as well as the other superstar of the day.
He showed a great amount of strength, speed and best of all, tenacity. Richardson is dying to get after it and that speaks volumes. The Browns will be safe from a giant mistake.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU
The more the pre-draft process unfolds, the more I love Morris Claiborne. He's a big body that can affect just about any receiver at the point of contact.
6. St. Louis Rams (via WA): Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State
Finally, the Rams get that impressive receiver that can actually make plays and be a game changer on the wings. Sam Bradford will have a good year.
7. Jacksonville Jaguars: Quinton Coples, DE, North Carolina
Forget about the consistency questions. Coples has the talent, and best of all, the build and athleticism to be a superstar.
8. Miami Dolphins: Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M
And we come to the epic reach of the draft. Let me state unequivocally that I don't believe Ryan Tannehill is a first round pick.
He's too inexperienced and there are too many questions to make him a first rounder, let alone a top-10 pick, a place reserved for players closer to "sure things."
With that being said, the Dolphins will hardly be able to help themselves. Both Mel Kiper and Todd McShay have him in the top 10, and CBS Sports reports that at least a few teams are interested.
Tannehill will not pass the No. 8 pick.
9. Carolina Panthers: Dontari Poe, DT, Memphis
Please don't forget how awesome Poe was at the combine. He may very well go down as my favorite participant ever, dropping a sub-five second 40-yard dash time and putting up 44 reps on the bench press.
10. Buffalo Bills: Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford
The Bills could go after a receiver like Michael Floyd, but I have them taking care of that offensive line like they should.
11. Kansas City Chiefs: David DeCastro, G, Stanford
Many have softened on DeCastro, but I still say he is one of the safest bets of the first round.
12. Seattle Seahawks: Melvin Ingram, DE/OLB, South Carolina
Trust me, the Seahawks would take a shot at Tannehill at this spot if he slips. They'd have no issue keeping him in the bullpen for a couple of years and it may actually be a fine fit.
It's a good thing the Fins will take him because Flynn will be just fine in Seattle. This brings me to Ingram who I love for this team and will get into the gaps and give Seattle tremendous help in the pass rush.
13. Arizona Cardinals: Cordy Glenn, G/T, Georgia
The Cardinals need help on the other side of the ball but have too many issues on the offensive line to ignore in the first round.
14. Dallas Cowboys: Luke Kuechly, ILB, Boston College
Kuechly dismissed every question about his size and speed at the combine. He will give the Cowboys depth and a high motor player.
15. Philadelphia Eagles: Mark Barron, S, Alabama
The Eagles are woefully inconsistent at the safety position, so I see them making a slight reach with the best at the position here.
16. New York Jets: Courtney Upshaw, OLB, Alabama
The Jets forfeited a couple of mid-round picks in the 2012 draft in the deal that gave them Tim Tebow. With that in mind, I have them going after the most pressing need for their team.
With the game-changing lineman all gone, the smartest bet is to go with the stout Upshaw who will be a boost to the defense.
17. Cincinnati Bengals (via OAK): Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame
The Bengals could use a receiver and there is no way they will let one of the best athletes left on the board slip on by them. Best player considering the tremendous value.
18. San Diego Chargers: Whitney Mercilus, DE/OLB, Illinois
Mercilus put it all together last season, signaling he is taking the process seriously and has the work ethic to make a productive impact.
19. Chicago Bears: Riley Reiff, OT, Iowa
The Bears need help on the line, again. Reiff's stock has suffered a blow with so many great offensive lineman on the board, but a team that needs a sure thing along the line could do a lot worse.
20. Tennessee Titans: Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama
The Titans will get the cornerback they need and instantly become deep at the position. I still like Kirkpatrick well above Jenkins or Gilmore.
21. Cincinnati Bengals: Stephon Gilmore, CB, South Carolina
This brings me to Gilmore who is the next best thing on the board. With the Bengals taking care of the offense, it's time to address the needs on the other side of the ball.
22. Cleveland Browns (via ATL): Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor
The Browns could use this on Tannehill who really should slip this far in the first round, but seeing as he won't, they will either take offensive line help or a receiver. Wright is the deep threat they need.
23. Detroit Lions: Janoris Jenkins, CB, North Alabama
Jenkins is truly a steal this late in the draft. He has shown great maturity through the draft process and I am ready to buy in that he has learned from his off-the-field issues.
24. Pittsburgh Steelers: Dont'a Hightower, ILB, Alabama
Yes, the Steelers have other holes, but I love this powerful talent with good speed to mature on the perfect team for him.
25. Denver Broncos: Nick Perry, DE, USC
The Broncos have been all over the board through the next few months. There really isn't a guard that I like for this team this high in the draft, but Perry will help the defensive front and they certainly need that as well.
26. Houston Texans: Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina
I don't see Jeffrey dropping out of the first round and Jeffrey would be an intriguing prospect on the other side of Andre Johnson.
27. New England Patriots (via NO): Michael Brockers, DT, LSU
A meager combine saw him slip drastically. I still have him in the first round simply for his size and tape from previous years. There's no way scouts can ignore those positives.
28. Green Bay Packers: Andre Branch, DE/OLB, Clemson
The combine was kind to Branch, who showed that his huge frame is not a problem. He moved very well and will plug holes and get after the ball effectively.
29. Baltimore Ravens: Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin
The Ravens will not enter next season with huge holes on the offensive line due to injury or ineffectiveness—at least not with Konz on the payroll.
30. San Francisco 49ers: Jayron Hosley, CB, Virginia Tech
The 49ers need to place one little cherry on top of that defensive sundae. The secondary needs depth. Et voila!
31. New England Patriots: Rueben Randle, WR, LSU
Yes, the first round is filled with receivers, but you can't ignore a surging draft star who grabbed 53 receptions for 917 yards and eight touchdowns in his senior season.
32. New York Giants: Amini Silatolu, G, Midwestern State (Texas)
The Giants showed me something by shoring up the line towards the end of last year, but I think they are too old to duplicate that effort. It's time to get younger.
