Auburn Football Recruiting 2013: 5-Star D-Lineman Solid on Commitment to Tigers
The Auburn Tigers don't have a large number of recruits committed in the 2013 class just yet, but what they lack in quantity they make up for in quality.
One of the class headliners, Scout 5-star defensive lineman Dee Liner (quite an appropriate name) of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, has just given the Tigers more reason to be excited despite committing to coach Gene Chizik in June of last year.
247Sports' Bryan Matthews quotes the in-state star after he visited the campus again, saying:
"I’m pretty much done with other visits ... They want to use me as a defensive end where Corey Lemonier is, No. 55. That’s what I want to do. I want to come off the end ... When I stepped on campus all of them showed me love and were smiling. I showed them a big smile back.
"
The 6'4", 270-pounder is ranked as Scout's 12th-best player in the nation. Most scouting services list him as a defensive tackle, but the one thing they all point to is Liner's overall versatility.
He's a gifted athlete for his size, has great get-off and is still growing into his body and frame. He's not only talented right now, but he will be a major force as he continues to develop.
Iron Bowl rivals Alabama have been hard after the in-state star for some time now.
Liner visited the eventual BCS champions during the Georgia Southern game in November and was visited again by coach Nick Saban in January.
But the Muscle Shoals star was present at Auburn's junior day and visited again this week. He wanted to make it known that he's a Tiger through and through, and by solidifying his commitment, he did just that.
Liner headlines Auburn's class with linebacker Trey Johnson of Central Gwinnett (Lawrenceville, GA), wide receiver Earnest Robinson of Pinson Valley, Alabama and defensive end Carl Lawson of Milton (Alpharetta, GA)—all Rivals 4-star recruits.
