College Football Recruiting 2013: North Carolina Adds Coveted RB Ryan Switzer
Ryan Switzer can play any number of positions at the next level. Some say he's a running back, some say he's a wide receiver, we know he can be a punt returner, he can play cornerback and he was even his team's punter and kickoff specialist.
Plain and simple, the kid is a football player.
A Rivals 3-star recruit from George Washington High School (Charleston, WV), Switzer was being heavily pursued by a number of programs and narrowed his finalists down to Penn State, West Virginia, Wake Forest, Duke and North Carolina.
It seemed like the Nittany Lions were going to be a solid fit for the superstar athlete, but it was the Tar Heels who continued their recruiting roll and earned the 5'10", 170-pounder's commitment.
Switzer was a touchdown machine this past season, finding the end zone a ridiculous 45 times as a junior. He ran for nearly 2,800 yards and his touchdown total includes rushing, receiving and interception returns.
The speedster is the seventh recruit to give his pledge to Larry Fedora and the Tar Heels in the 2013 class and the third in the last nine days.
Rivals 3-star athlete Donnie Miles of North Gwinnett (Sawanee, GA) pledged on the 20th of March, as did Rivals 4-star defensive back Brian Walker of Mallard Creek (Charlotte, NC).
Switzer is a huge get for this program. He'll come in as a utility man and can do anything and everything asked of him.
The Tar Heels continue to rack up early commitments from skill position players in the 2013 class, as Rivals 4-star offensive lineman R.J. Prince is the only non-skill player of the seven.
North Carolina is off to a tremendous start on the recruiting trail this year, and we expect Fedora and his staff to continue pushing as they begin their first full year on campus.
You can catch me talking talking football and throwing seven different kinds of smoke on Twitter.
