College Football Recruiting 2013: 8 Rock-Solid, Unwavering Commitments
We're starting to see a trend in recruiting where many prospects choose to make their decisions earlier and earlier. There's nothing wrong with it, and personally, I kind of like it.
The recruit commits and is then pretty much through with recruiting. Yet, there are a lot of times where we see a recruit commit early, then after awhile he starts to waver and even decommits.
Well, for this read, I'm going to give you eight recruits who I absolutely do no think in any way, shape or form will decommit. Here are eight rock-solid, write-it-in-ink and set-it-in-stone commitments.
8. Ryan Burns, QB
1 of 8Commitment: Stanford
Stanford can rest easy, because Burns is solid to them through and through.
He's a Virginia native and one of the best QB prospects in the country. Burns nearly stands at 6'5" and sees the field well. He makes god decisions, throws a catchable ball and is very accurate.
Look for him to eventually become a starter for David Shaw on The Farm.
7. Cameron Burrows, DB
2 of 8Commitment: Ohio State
Burrows is a big-time talent as a DB. The 6'2", 195-pounder has the size of a safety, but the hips, speed, quickness and coverage ability to play corner. His length will leave you in awe, and Burrows has the speed to carry a receiver deep.
Ohio State has nothing to worry about, as Burrows is an Ohio native and has always wanted to play for the Buckeyes.
6. Kelvin Taylor, RB
3 of 8Commitment: Florida
Taylor has Gator blood in his veins; he's the son of former Gator great, Fred Taylor.
Pop has to be proud that his son is following his footsteps both as a Gator and as a running back. Taylor has good speed, lateral quickness, vision and instincts all on a 5'10", 205-pound frame.
5. Jalin Marshall, ATH
4 of 8Commitment: Ohio State
Marshall is the second Buckeye on this list, and he too, like Burrows, is locked into OSU.
I just think that Marshall fits the bill of an Ohio kid who grew up a Buckeye fan, and when they offered, he jumped on the chance.
At 6'1" and 190 pounds, look for Marshall—who plays QB in high school—to end up as either WR or RB in Columbus.
4. Tyrone Swoopes, QB
5 of 8Commitment: Texas
Swoopes may be the No. 1 prospect in Texas this year, and that alone usually means the Longhorns basically draft you. Swoopes made up his mind earlier this year, and I doubt he even takes another trip to another school.
Compared to Vince Young, the 6'5", 220-pound Swoopes has dual-threat ability from the QB pocket. Whether he needs to beat you with his arm or legs, he'll find a way to do so.
3. Adam Breneman, TE
6 of 8Commitment: Penn State
Breneman is the No. 1 TE in the country, and the Pennsylvania native is pledged to Penn State. Happy Valley will definitely see him next year. In fact, Breneman is so solid to the Nittany Lions, that he's even going to help recruit other players there.
So, any questions about the 6'5", 220-pound pass-catching TE wavering are null and void.
2. Reuben Foster, LB
7 of 8Commitment: Alabama
Foster is the No. 2 overall prospect in the country, and the Crimson Tide have him locked up very solidly.
Besides looking for a new high school, Foster will return to Tuscaloosa next weekend and will probably be at the A-Day game. At 6'2" and 240 pounds, he's ready to play for Alabama now—he's that good.
1. Shane Morris, QB
8 of 8Commitment: Michigan
Morris committed to Michigan as a sophomore in high school, and he's been open and active in recruiting others to join him.
Morris' commitment is as solid as a rock; he's going to be a Wolverine, and if any other school tries to recruit him, they're wasting their time.
At 6'3" and 190 pounds, Morris is a strong-armed lefty with good set-up quickness and athleticism.
