College Football Recruiting 2013: 7 Recruits Likely to Make Early Decisions
When we follow a player's recruitment, one of the burning questions we always try to find out is when the recruit will make a decision. With National Signing Day being such a huge day, we see a lot of recruits wait until the first Wednesday in February to announce their college choice.
Last year, however, was a bit different as many recruits made their decisions well before signing day. For this read, I'm going to give you seven players that likely won't wait until NSD and will make an earlier rather than later decision.
Let's get started.
7. Vonn Bell, DB
1 of 7Bell is a 6'1", 190-pound DB that I think can play all four spots for a secondary. He's got great hips, can get off the hashes with speed, good range and flashes outstanding ball skills.
Alabama, Tennessee and Auburn have all seen him on campus so far this year. Bell wants to play safety, so that will play a factor in his decision.
6. Stacy Coley, WR
2 of 7Coley is a 6'1", 175-pound deep threat at the WR position. He's a bit skinny and lanky, but let that fool you, this guy will burn you deep.
Florida has been the favorite for quite some time with Coley. Gator WR coach Aubrey Hill is on his trail hard, as Coley is a Florida native and pretty much a Gator fan.
Look for him to commit pretty soon because it's only a matter of time before he does anyway.
5. Jaylon Smith, LB
3 of 7Smith is a Hoosier stater and goes 6'3", 225 pounds. His frame is admirable. Tack on good tools like play speed, athleticism, range and solid instincts, and you see why he's got a ton of offers.
4. Su'a Cravens, DB
4 of 7Cravens is a hard one to get a read on, as the 6'1", 200-pounder can play a variety of positions such as DB, OLB and RB and has many various offers. Yet, there's no denying that Cravens is one of the top prospects in the nation.
What's puzzling about Cravens is how he claims he's wide open, but could make an early decision before school starts.
3. Ty Isaac, RB
5 of 7I have Isaac ranked as one of the elite overall prospects nationally on my board and as one of the top offensive play-makers. He's a 6'3", 220-pound rock toter with good speed and nice hands for a back.
On the recruiting front, I think Michigan and USC are the schools to watch out for. He was at USC within the past week and also has Ohio State and Notre Dame hot after him.
2. Max Browne, QB
6 of 7Browne's probably going to make a decision before his senior season starts. He's the nation's No. 1 QB prospect and has offers from just about everyone.
However, look for USC, Alabama, Oklahoma and Washington to be in the mix as standouts. Whoever get's Browne will be getting a 6'5", 200-pounder with a quick release and excellent mechanics.
1. Robert Nkemdiche, DL
7 of 7The nation's No. 1 overall prospect sent a bit of shockwaves though the recruiting world last week, as he stated that he'll likely announce his choice on May 18.
With schools like Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Ole Miss, Texas, Oregon and Clemson all waiting with high anticipation, we'll know where Nkemdiche is headed in mid-May.
The 6'5", 270-pound man-child is the top player in the country, and he's going to make an earlier decision, rather waiting for fanfare on NSD.
