Michigan Football Recruiting 2013: Wolverines Finally Set Visit with Coveted DE

Wes ODonnellJun 4, 2018

With 16 recruits already committed for the 2013 class, the Michigan Wolverines have the option to be pushy and picky with the players they pursue.

One particular recruit they've been hard after for some time now, Rivals 3-star DE Josh Augusta, is finally going to visit Ann Arbor.

Todd Worley of 247Sports quotes the Peoria (Ill.) High School star as saying, “I talked to them last week. Spring break, I’m supposed to be visiting there. I’m not sure what day.”

Worley reports that his spring break starts on Thursday and that he'll also be visiting the rival Spartans in East Lansing.

Augusta is an intriguing prospect with great size for his age. He checks in at 6'5", 275 pounds and has been lauded by the Michigan coaches, as he says, for a tendency to be all over the football field.

Playing with a great motor is just one of Augusta's exciting traits. He's a gifted multi-sport athlete, is light on his feet for his size, and Michigan isn't the only one excited about his motor and talents.

Augusta has been offered by Michigan, but also holds offers from the likes of Oklahoma, Iowa, Indiana and Illinois.

He won't make a decision until after his senior season, but he does have a lot of interest in the Wolverines:

"

"I’m really liking Michigan. I think about them a lot. It’s something about Michigan. When I see them on TV, (the players) are so excited, and I like the coaches, too. I like coaches that are excited, and they sound excited when I’m on the phone with them."

"

They'll certainly be excited when Augusta arrives in Ann Arbor, and they can only hope to make an even better impression on the young man than they have already.

Hoke has done a phenomenal job of earning commitments well before national signing day. Their 16 pledges so far this year are the most in the nation, and they're well on their way to yet another top 10 class.

If Augusta is to be part of that class, the Wolverines' staff will have to continue doing what they're doing. He won't be one of their early commits, but he will be a player worth working for.

As things go now, so far so good.
