McDonald's All-American Game 2012: Shabazz Muhammad and Undecided Stars to Watch

Mike ChiariJun 3, 2018

Some of the greatest players in college basketball and NBA history have passed through the McDonald's All-American Game, and this year will be no different. It isn't yet known which players will live up to their immense promise and which will ultimately fizzle, but there are sure to be at least a few players that will be remembered for all-time.

While the vast majority of players in this year's game have already made their college choices, a few are still undecided and will look to use the McDonald's All-American Game as a platform to showcase their skills. While they pretty much have the pick of the litter in terms of where they can go, a great performance could ratchet up the courtship even more.

Here are three undecided stars you'll want to keep an eye on in Wednesday's All-American Game.

Shabazz Muhammad

Few players in recent memory have possessed the all-around game of Shabazz Muhammad coming out of high school, and that is why ESPNU ranks him as the No. 2 prospect in this year's recruiting class.

The 6'6" small forward from Las Vegas can do a little bit of everything, and those skills will be on display on Wednesday. Muhammad has offers from many of the top schools in the nation including Kentucky, Duke and Kansas, so he has a big decision to make.

One thing this game can do is help players make a decision based upon the other players in the game. If Muhammad is particularly smitten with the way a player performs, he might be more likely to follow said player to the college they have chosen.

Whatever the case, Muhammad will be out to prove why he is considered an elite prospect. The McDonald's All-American Game is a great platform to showcase raw skill and athleticism, and Muhammad has plenty of both.

Anthony Bennett

Over the past several years, more and more elite Canadian players have made their way across the border to play top-level collegiate basketball. Such is the case with power forward Anthony Bennett, a Brampton, Ontario native will take part in the McDonald's All-American Game.

At 6'8" and 230 lbs., Bennett can still afford to grow into his frame a bit more, but he is already ESPNU's No. 7 overall prospect and it is for good reason. Bennett has the potential to be a dominant presence in the paint both offensively and defensively, and several top schools have taken notice.

An interesting thing to watch for with regards to the undecided Bennett is the status of UNLV as one of his top suitors. The Rebels are also in on Muhammad as he is a hometown player. If Muhammad and Bennett enjoy playing as teammates on Wednesday, UNLV could score a major victory by reeling in both of them.

Tony Parker

When the name Tony Parker comes up, most basketball fans think of All-Star point guard Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spurs, but there is a new Tony Parker on the rise and he is a much different player.

This Tony Parker is a 6'9", 270-lb. power forward from Georgia and is ranked No. 21 overall by ESPNU. Parker is a much different player than most of the participants in the McDonald's All-American Game.

The vast majority of the top prospects are fairly cookie cutter in that they are long, lanky and athletic. Parker, on the other hand, has some true size to him. While some may think that his weight could become an issue, I believe it will make him tough to handle on the inside.

Schools like Duke, Ohio State, Kentucky and Kansas are in on Parker, so clearly some of the best coaches in the country see something in him.
