McDonald's All-American Game 2012 Roster: Power Ranking Elite College Prospects
If you want to know the best place to see the next wave of great college basketball players, look no further than Wednesday's 2012 McDonald's All-American Game. The best of the best in the high school ranks will take the court to show the world what they can do.
While there are a few elite players who will not be playing, there are still plenty of stars that will be on the court, so you should keep an eye on this evening.
Here are the best college prospects that will be on the court in Chicago on Wednesday night.
No. 5 Rodney Purvis, G (Committed to N.C. State)
Purvis might be the most exciting guard in this year's game. He can do it all on the court—drive to the basket, stop and shoot. And he's got great range on his jumper.
He is lightning quick and has a lot more strength than you would think for someone his size. He is simply going to run around slower players.
N.C. State will be smiling wide watching him dominate in this showcase game. The Wolfpack will be very good in 2012,with Purvis emerging as a superstar right out of the gate.
No. 4 Devonta Pollard, F (Undecided)
The first undecided player on the list, Pollard is going to make the six schools still on his list drool in this showcase game.
Despite being able to score a lot of points, Pollard is not a polished shooter right now. Where he does excel is in the paint and posting up opponents.
Pollard plays much bigger than his 6'7", 190-pound frame would suggest. He does a lot of the dirty work down low, and will be a monster in the middle for the West squad.
No. 3 Isaiah Austin, F (Committed to Baylor)
Size is rare in college basketball, which is why Austin was one of the most sought after recruits in high school this year.
At 7'0", 220 pounds, Austin has the body to become a force at the college level right away. Perhaps the scariest thing about him is the way he plays.
Yes, he is ridiculously tall, but he handles the ball like a guard and has a fantastic shooting touch. That is a rare combination to find. In an exhibition like this, Austin could easily carry his team to victory.
No. 2 Kyle Anderson, G (Committed to UCLA)
The most dynamic point guard in this year's game, Anderson is a freakish athlete at 6'8", 215 pounds. He has the size and speed of LeBron James, and with the versatility to play a number of positions on the floor.
Anderson can take over a game scoring, rebounding, passing or on the defensive side of the ball. There are few athletes like him in the NBA, let alone high school. He is going to be a star at UCLA next season.
No. 1 Shabazz Muhammad, F (Undecided)
No one playing in the McDonald's All-American Game this year can match Muhammad's combination of explosiveness, leaping ability and a great shot that allows him to put the ball in the basket from any spot.
Defensively, Muhammad is not too shabby either. He uses his length and aggressiveness to grab rebounds and block shots.
He is the most exciting player in high school basketball right now, and he will make college coaches around the country drool when they see what he does in this game.
