2012 Masters: Why Sunday Tiger Woods Won't Make a Comeback at Augusta

Ian BergJun 2, 2018

Tiger Woods has finally made it back to relevance with his PGA Tour win on Monday at Bay Hill.

Woods needed that victory, but don’t expect the comeback of Sunday Tiger to continue at Augusta when the Masters tees off on April 2.

Woods has won an impressive 14 majors, which is the second most in PGA Tour history. He is only four major victories away from tying golfing legend Jack Nicklaus.

Woods hopes to knock down one of those four in April when he takes to the links of Augusta National.

Despite his recent resurgence and composed victory that he earned at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill Woods is a long way from returning to his Sunday’s best—something that the golf world hopes happens soon.

Tiger Woods has battled inconsistency since his return to the game after a break for personal reasons in 2009.

He has also faced injury concerns over the past two years, and was unable to return to his former self on the course.

Woods has been known for his focus and demeanor on the links, as he always maintained control over his game during his blazing run as the world’s best golfer.

After the personal scandal that broke and the never-ending character assassinations that seem to follow, it has been difficult for Woods to regain the focus.

With the Hank Haney’s book “The Big Miss” set for release today, expect more distractions to come and throw off the new-found focus.

Woods would like to return to his old form and golf needs him to, but it will not happen at the Masters.

British bookmaker William Hill seems to think that Woods will return to championship form at the Masters, placing him as the 4-1 favorite to win the tournament according to ESPN.com.

Despite the recent swing of confidence, the personal distractions will continue to haunt Tiger at this year’s Masters.

My bet is that he will have more to worry about than a fainting 18-year old by the last leg of the competition.
