McDonald's All-American Roster 2012: Potential MVP Candidates To Keep an Eye on
The 2012 McDonald’s All-American Game is loaded with talent this year. The rosters contain 24 of the best high school players on the planet and many are guaranteed to go on to be stars in college and the NBA.
Former MVP’s of the game include Kevin Durant, Dwight Howard, LeBron James, Kevin Garnett, Chris Webber, Shaquille O’Neal and Alonzo Mourning.
These players are all bound for the Hall of Fame and had a chance to get on the map early by dominating the competition at this high school event.
Let’s take a look at some players with a chance to join the elite group of MVPs and who you must keep an eye on Wednesday night at 9:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
Shabazz Muhammad
Muhammad hasn’t made his collegiate choice yet, but it won’t matter because this young man looks like he will be turning pro the first chance he gets.
The 6’6”, 215-pound lefty is an incredibly skilled offensive player with immense athleticism and a jumper to boot. He also plays great defense and is widely considered one of, if not the best, prospects in the country.
Isaiah Austin
This legitimate seven-footer is going to be patrolling the paint for Baylor next season and will flash his abilities tonight.
Austin can handle the rock like a SF, shoot like a guard and also has an inside game despite being just 210 pounds. He’s a true threat to win the MVP award because of this versatility.
If he can add some weight and keep his current skills, Austin is going to be a surefire professional basketball player.
Kyle Anderson
This 6’7” baller can play point guard, shooting guard and small forward, making him a matchup nightmare and someone who can do it all on the basketball court.
He’s not the most athletic player, but his ability to make an impact all over the floor and play with his head ensures that he will be successful.
Look for him to impress scouts a ton here and possibly hoist the MVP trophy.
