McDonald's All-American Game 2012: Tyler Lewis and Other Top Must-See Prospects

Ryan RudnanskyJun 7, 2018

The next crop of college basketball stars will spread their wings in the annual McDonald's All-American Game hoping to make a name for themselves.

You have scorers, slashers, pure passers, board-crashers, shot-blockers, perimeter defenders and more. The only thing that's missing is trash-talkers...oh wait, they'll be there, too.

Here's a look at some of the highest rated and most entertaining recruits that will set foot on the hardwood on Wednesday.

Tyler Lewis, PG, Oak Hill Academy

There may not be a more entertaining recruit in the 2012 McDonald's All-American Game than Tyler Lewis. Beyond being a flashy player whose passing ability is reminiscent of Jason Williams in his prime, Lewis, at 5'11", may be one of the feistiest players.

He'll shake you, knock down a jumper and walk away with a smile on his face. Or he'll bury a three-pointer in your face and start trash-talking. He has absolutely no fear.

This is the kind of kid that you look at and then think that he will get destroyed by stronger, taller opponents. Then he puts on a show.

Lewis may rub his competition the wrong way at times, but one thing's for sure: He's going to make his name known in college, one way or another.

Gary Harris, SG, Hamilton Southeastern High School

The top-rated shooting guard in the class, some actually think Gary Harris is underrated as the No. 11 overall recruit, according to ESPNU.

A physically imposing guard, Harris is a great slasher and finisher. If you're in his way when he's driving to the lane, you're more of a standing dummy than a defender in most cases. Whether he jumps over you or through you, Harris is going to get to the basket.

Beyond that, Harris has a nice mid-range game and is a tough defender, utilizing his strength and length to lock down his opponent and swing into passing lanes.

Harris has a streaky perimeter game right now, but that should improve in time. For now, we'll watch him dominate inside the arc.

Isaiah Austin, C, Grace Preparatory Academy

Say hello to Baylor's next freak of nature, Isaiah Austin.

Already boasting two potential NBA draft lottery picks in Perry Jones and Quincy Miller, Baylor has to be ecstatic about landing Austin. At 7'0", he runs the floor like a deer and has the ball-handling skills of a small forward.

Austin may be the most physically talented player in the 2012 class, but he needs to work on his consistency (pretty fitting for Baylor, isn't it?). Nevertheless, he has a great inside-outside game and is a shot-blocking nightmare.

Austin's a very unique player who could follow in Jones and Miller's footsteps in due time.
