WrestleMania 28 Predictions: WWE Stars Who Will Benefit Most from Marquee Event

Tim DanielsMay 31, 2018

Every wrestler dreams about having a match at WrestleMania, but only a small percentage of superstars get the chance. It's the biggest stage of them all and provides an awesome opportunity to boost a person's stock within the WWE.

Let's take a look at three stars who will walk out of WrestleMania in a much better position than they currently sit. That should set them up for a strong run over the next couple months.

Chris Jericho

Even though most fans had figured out Jericho was behind the cryptic videos prior to his return, the crowd went crazy when he came back to Raw. His momentum has been slowed down in recent weeks, however, due to an increased focus on The Rock vs. John Cena.

That hasn't stopped Y2J from firing off some tremendous promos with his attacks on CM Punk. Few people in the world are better than him at portraying a heel character. He's proven that by going personal in his feud with the WWE champion.

Since I don't believe he would have returned to the company unless there were major plans in the works, I expect him to defeat Punk to claim the belt in Sunday night's best match. Giving him the belt should allow fans to embrace him because it will be proof he isn't going anywhere.

Once The Rock, Undertaker, Triple H and Shawn Michaels fade into the background, Jericho will be given the top spot and should excel in that role.

Cody Rhodes

Rhodes' Intercontinental title reign will be nearly 240 days by the time he walks to the ring at WrestleMania. That's the longest run in nearly a decade, showing how much confidence the company has in him to hold a mid-card belt.

He should be able to defeat Big Show to retain the belt with relative ease, but the bigger picture will be using that WrestleMania victory to elevate him into the main event scene. He has nothing left to prove in his current position.

Rhodes has become a much more complete superstar since arriving to the WWE a handful of years ago. His promo work improved when he was given more opportunities and his in-ring work is now amongst the best in the entire company.

His positive strides should be more than enough to earn him a push. Big Show is simply a jumping-off point to make it happen, and a very large one at that.

John Cena

After a storied career, there really isn't much for Cena to prove. He's been elevated to a level rarely seen in the history of wrestling and has developed a gigantic group of fans in the process. So it would seem like his gains at WrestleMania would be minimal.

Not so fast. Beating The Rock would put him in rare air. It would be a message that he's not just dominant now, but that he could have been so in any era. Rocky dominated the Attitude Era, which was a pinnacle time for the WWE. If Cena beats him, he has a legitimate case in the conversation as best ever.

His detractors, and there are plenty of them, won't like hearing that. But there's really no denying it. He's reached a point where nobody on the current roster seemed like a logical opponent, so Vince McMahon had to import The Rock.

Since Rocky will be heading back to the movie set shortly after WrestleMania ends, I expect Cena to rise up once again to claim victory and a spot amongst the elite names in company history.
