2012 NFL Free Agents: Top 5 Bargain Players Left on Open Market

Zach KruseJun 3, 2018

With the 2012 NFL free-agency period a full two weeks old, NFL GMs are scouring what's left on the market to find the best bargain deals and players available.

Here's a quick list of some of the top players left who fit the profile.

OT Demetrius Bell

Starting-quality left tackles are hard to find at this point in free agency, but Bell remains because he's had some injury issues in the past.

Yet for a guy who has started 30 games at left tackle over three years in Buffalo, why not take a flier? He might surprise a team on a one-year, "prove-it" type contract.

DT Derek Landri

Landri played on fewer than 400 defensive snaps last season in Philadelphia, but he was as productive per snap as any front-four player in football.

According to Pro Football Focus, only three other defensive tackles graded out higher overall than Landri last season. Any team that needs a rotational pass-rusher at defensive tackle could get a bargain player here.

G Jake Scott

Scott is 30 years old and a little undersized at 292 pounds, but he's also started 124 games in Tennessee since 2004 and graded out as one of the better pass-blocking guards last season.

A team that needs a stop-gap option inside will get a good one in Scott, and for a basement price.

NT Aubrayo Franklin

Franklin signed a one-year deal with the Saints last offseason but tanked his value this spring with a tough 2011 season. He played fewer than 300 overall snaps and wasn't the dominating run-stuffer that he showed in San Francisco.

However, Franklin might be better off playing in a 3-4 front. Another one-year deal back in his old defensive front might do wonders.

MLB London Fletcher

Fletcher has been one of the NFL's most productive middle linebackers over the last 10 years, but he's 37 years old and undersized for the position.

His best option still remains in Washington, where the Redskins could get him back for a dirt-cheap price. Any other team that needs a heady veteran to lead its linebackers may take a look.
