2012 NFL Free Agents: London Fletcher and Veteran LBs Who Will Provide a Boost

Patrick ClarkeJun 7, 2018

NFL free agency is in full swing, and a majority of the big names have already signed with their new teams.

But for franchises looking to bolster their defenses and bring in veteran NFL talent capable of providing a boost, these free-agent linebackers are more than deserving of a quick look:

London Fletcher

The 36-year-old veteran has played with three teams during his 14-year NFL career and has never missed a regular season game, proving incredibly durable at the linebacker position.

Fletcher picked off two passes and forced three fumbles for the Washington Redskins in 2011, while also recording a career-best 166 tackles.

The only concern is that Fletcher will be 37 this May, and he has no doubt lost a step or two with age, but to say his years have brought about durability or injury concerns would be asinine considering his track record as one of the NFL's all-time tough guys.

E.J. Henderson

Former Maryland Terrapin linebacker E.J. Henderson played nine seasons with the Minnesota Vikings but looks to wind up in a new city in 2012 as a free agent.

Henderson racked up 110 tackles with the Vikings in 2011, including 80 solo tackles and three forced fumbles.

He will turn 32 this offseason, but he has the experience and fire to make an impact as a starting middle linebacker for a young team lacking leadership at the position.

Leroy Hill

The Haddock, Georgia native has played all six of his NFL seasons in Seattle with the Seahawks, but is on the market this offseason as one of the best linebackers available.

Hill played in all 16 regular season games for the Seahawks in 2011, recording 89 tackles and four sacks in the process.

He will turn 30 in September, which means he has plenty left in the tank. Hill is also one of the stronger and more physical free-agent LBs left on the market, which means he will certainly provide a boost for the team that takes a chance on him in 2012.
