2012 NFL Free Agents: Brandon Jacobs and Offensive Weapons Still Available
It's been nearly two weeks since the NFL free agency period began, but there are still a handful of accomplished offensive players still looking for work.
Super Bowl XLVI champion Brandon Jacobs helped the Giants win it all, but he nonetheless finds himself in search of a home as the 2012 season draws near.
There are a plethora of struggling franchises and teams on the verge that could use one or two of the offensive weapons still on the free-agent market this spring. Here are some of the big names left out there:

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Brandon Jacobs
The powerful running back will turn 30 this July, but he is still capable of running through and over defenders in short-yardage situations.
Jacobs has only 100 regular season games under his belt in seven seasons with the New York Giants, so his legs are still fresh, and his unique size for a tailback—the same asset that makes him a liability at times—will benefit him from a health standpoint moving forward.
Jacobs scored seven rushing touchdowns in 2011 and averaged 4.4 yards per carry for New York during its incredible postseason run.
Visanthe Shiancoe
The former third-round draft pick in 2003 is a veteran tight end and an explosive pass-catcher.
Shiancoe was at the top of his game in 2009 while playing alongside Brett Favre in Minnesota (career-best 56 catches and 11 touchdowns), but he has since fallen off while playing with less accomplished quarterbacks.
Shiancoe always keeps himself in great physical shape as well; he has never missed a game in nine full NFL seasons.
The former Morgan State prospect moved the chains for a first down 26 times last year for the 3-13 Vikings.
Ryan Grant
29-year-old running back Ryan Grant has never played an NFL game with any team other than the Green Bay Packers. But that will change soon, as he is a free agent heading into the 2012 season.
Fumble tendencies have held Grant back from becoming a stellar back, but his talent cannot be denied. The five-year NFL veteran rushed for back-to-back 1,200-yard seasons in 2008 and 2009, and he has 25 rushing touchdowns in just 63 career regular season games.
Like Jacobs, Grant is still fresh and has plenty to offer a franchise in need of an offensive weapon capable of mixing things up in 2012.
