What to Watch For
Watching the McDonald’s All-American is a lot like watching the NBA All-Star Game—plenty of 1-on-1 action mixed in with alley-oops and up-and-down action. We will see guys jack it up in transition, perform inexplicable behind-the-back passes and attempt to take it to the rack even when there isn’t a seam.
This game won’t be for those players who enjoy being unselfish. The more “selfish” scorers will put the points on the board in this game and therefore will get the most attention.
Who to Watch From Each Team
Kyle Anderson – East
Anderson is a smooth operator on the floor. He’s 6’8” and capable of playing multiple positions on the floor; he’s a coach’s dream. He sees the floor extremely well because of his size and his length is just another added dimension.
The UCLA commit is a player to keep a close eye on.
Shabazz Muhammad – West
Muhammad is the best player coming out of high school, but he’s still undecided about his collegiate future. He is Nevada’s Boy’s Hoop Player of the Year.
At 6’6” and 215 pounds, Muhammad has the size that screams NBA All Star. He averaged 30 points and 10 rebounds this season while leading Bishop Gorman to the Class 4A state championship.
If you want to watch the future of the NBA (potentially) then you can’t miss Muhammad in action.
Prediction
I like the West to win this game, not like it matters.
Take your pick.
It's difficult to judge how high school kids will coexist when they don't play with one another on a regular basis.
But I'll take the West. Obviously, Muhammad being on that side helps, but I really like Archie Goodwin and Rasheed Sulaimon—who Duke fans will be looking to be the next Austin Rivers minus the star attention.
