2012 NBA Draft: 5 Reasons Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Will Transform a Lottery Team
Judging by the looks of things, the 2012 NBA draft will be loaded with top-level talent.
All signs point to Kentucky's Anthony Davis being the No. 1 overall pick. However, years from now, when we look back at the class of 2012, it very well could be his current teammate Michael Kidd-Gilchrist who emerges as the best player.
Kidd-Gilchrist will surely be a high lottery pick now that he's officially declared for the draft, and his unique skill set could help turn around whatever team he goes to right away.

Report: Biggest Spenders in Men's CBB 🤑
Here's a look at a few reason's why he can help completely transform any lottery team in this summer's draft.
Intangibles
MKG has that desire to win and treats every possession that way. There's no let up in his game and he never takes plays off, especially at the defensive end of the floor.
He understands the game and is willing to do all of the little things necessary for a team to win. Kidd-Gilchrist has those leadership qualities and he will look to lead from day one.
Offensive Ability
He's a wing player with the natural ability to slash to the basket and get to the rim at will with either hand. He plays as well off the ball as he does with it in his hands.
Not only can he attack the basket, but he already has a solid mid-range game to go with it. He can be instantly productive in the NBA at the offensive end.
Defensive Ability
This is what separates MKG from every other potential draftee at his position. He not only can play defense, but he wants to. Not many young players have the want to commit at the defensive end, but MKG embraces the role of a defensive stopper.
His length allows him to play much bigger than his 6'6" frame and he can guard 1-4 at the college level. He's relentless guarding both on the ball and off it and realizes that playing great defense is about attitude and desire and he brings it every possession.
Most NBA teams in the lottery are there because they have problems getting stops. Kidd-Gilchrist could help be an instant turnaround for those teams.
Fundamentals
Kidd-Gilchrist just does everything fundamentally well. Whether it's boxing out properly or handling the ball or running the floor, MKG does everything the way you are taught at a very young age. He just does it extraordinary well.
Character and Work Ethic
Kidd-Gilchrist is a high character guy, which means teams looking to draft him won't have to deal with a lot of baggage or immaturity.
He also has a great work ethic and continues to get better in all areas of his game.
His perimeter shooting is one area that could use some work, but it wouldn't surprise me to see him become a very good long-range shooter within time.
