Big Ten Football Morning Coffee: Denard Robinson Will Be a Leader and a Legend
Adam JacobiJun 7, 2018
Good morning, friends. The fog is thick here in the Windy City, which means it's not very windy today. I feel lied to.
- Denard Robinson is learning to become the vocal leader of the Michigan offense, according to the Michigan Daily. There's also a great anecdote about Denard and President Obama from back in January, if you're not familiar.
- Penn State will be looking to cornerback Adrian Amos and receiver/back Bill Belton to step up and make the leap in 2012, according to PennLive.com. If both players shine, they will join an illustrious group of athletes with the same first and last initial, like Curtis Conway, Dermontti Dawson, Tim Tebow and Zarley Zalapski.
- Joe Amendola, the lawyer for former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky, has reportedly moved to dismiss the charges against Sandusky. As noted by the AP, this motion also seeks to delay the trial further to help Sandusky's legal team prepare its defense, so even they don't really expect this motion to dismiss to be granted.
- Minnesota linebacker Mike Rallis, the Gophers' leading returning tackler, says Minnesota can compete for the Big Ten title this year, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. I have less of a problem with this proclamation than most; when you're actually on a team, you don't look at a schedule six months out and say, "We're losing that one, winning that one, etc." You focus on getting better, then when the season comes, it's time to prepare for each game week by week.
Rallis' prediction probably won't come true, since the Legends Division is extraordinarily strong, but at the very least, he's not doing his team the disservice of writing games off as losses as early as March.
