Could Bill Romanowski Be Coming Back to The Denver Broncos?

Sayre BedingerJan 15, 2009

Is Bill Romanowski headed back to the Denver Broncos?

Maybe, but not in the same capacity as he would have 10 years ago.

The 16-year NFL veteran and former Denver linebacker is set to meet with new head coach Josh McDaniels for a vacancy on the Broncos' staff.

"Romo", as he was affectionately known, publicly stated his desire to interview for Denver's head coaching vacancy, but no offer was extended and now he is getting an interview for an assistant position.

Since his playing days, Romanowski has become an actor as well as an excellent trainer and nutritionist.  He is currently the President and CEO of a corporation called Nutrition53.

If not offered a defensive coaching position, Romanowski says he would gladly become the team's "performance" coordinator, and would hire some of the top trainers and nutritionists in the country.

The former Pro Bowler envisions a workout program specific to each individual position, since players all do different things on the field.

“What they do on the football field is totally different. Their strength programs and speed programs will be very different,” Romanowski said. “Say you have eight defensive backs. They’re all going to be very similar in the way they’re trained, but one day a week may be very detailed to what each specific player’s needs are.

Personally, I would welcome his addition as the team nutritionist and trainer, I mean, have you seen the guy?  I wouldn't hire him as a coordinator, there are many other former Broncos linebackers that would be a better fit for that position.

Coaching Odds and Ends

The Denver Broncos are likely to announce the hiring of former Kansas City special teams coach Mike Preifer as special teams coordinator and Dom Capers as a defensive assistant.
