Matt Cassel and 3 Kansas City Chiefs with the Worst Contracts on the Team
Every NFL roster has at least a handful of players that are getting paid more money than they really deserve.
The Kansas City Chiefs are no exception.
With an under-achieving starting QB and a few defensive players that are that have yet to live up to the dollar amount in their deals, KC has their share of bad contracts on their current roster.
Here are the four worst contracts on the Chiefs heading into the '12 season.
DE Tyson Jackson
1 of 4It's no surprise that Chiefs DE Tyson Jackson made the cut for this list, as he is easily the most overpaid player on this entire roster.
He's due to make just over $8 million in 2012, but doesn't deserve that kind of money at all.
Jackson did shown signs of life last season for KC's defense, but he is getting paid too much to just be a run-stopper at his defensive end position.
Unless T-Jax rapidly improves this year, I expect him to either take a pay cut for 2013 or the Chiefs will release him at season's end.
DE Glenn Dorsey
2 of 4Joining Tyson Jackson on this list is his former LSU teammate, Glenn Dorsey.
Dorsey's role on the team has been much similar to Jackson, as he has mainly been a solid run-stopper, but that's all.
Even though his contract is one of the worst one the team right now, he will only be paid about $5.6 million next season, what happens to be the last year of his rookie contract.
Unless KC can find a way to restructure their deals, it's not likely that the Chiefs will keep both Dorsey and Jackson after this year.
The former two-time All-American DT could be the odd man since he is scheduled to be a free agent in 2013.
S Eric Berry
3 of 4Pro Bowl safety Eric Berry's name on this list might come as a shock to some.
He played like a top-tier safety in his rookie season, but doesn't deserve to be the the highest paid safety in NFL history to date, let alone the highest paid player at his position today.
Sure, the former Tennessee Volunteer is extremely talented and has a great chance to be an elite player in this league for a long time.
However, he hasn't quite proved himself yet as he has only put together one superb season in his two years in the league.
Unlike the other players on this list, Berry could easily live up to his contract over time.
QB Matt Cassel
4 of 4What happens when you hand a $63 million contract to a QB that was over-hyped from one good season?
You have Matt Cassel of the Kansas City Chiefs and one of the worst contracts for not only KC, but the entire league as well.
In his three years in Kansas City, the former Patriot has played well in just one season, when he made the Pro Bowl in 2010.
This was hardly the return that GM Scott Pioli and the Chiefs brass were hoping for when they traded for the Chatsworth, California native just over three years ago.
