Jerry Sandusky: Lawyer Files Motion Asking for Charges to Be Dropped

Gabe ZaldivarJun 7, 2018

A case that is already equal parts shocking and bizarre gets another level of craziness added to it, as the attorney defending former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky has asked that all of the charges against his client be dropped.

The Associated Press reports that Joe Amendola filed a pre-trial motion on Thursday requesting that the 52 charges be dropped against his client Jerry Sandusky.

Sandusky is the former assistant coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions accused of sexually abusing up to 10 boys over a period of 15 years.

The former coach vehemently denies the charges, while a mountain of evidence has been bandied about by the national media.

One piece that has been heavily weighed is the Bill of Particulars that outlines the allegations of sexual abuse against the victims. Each victim is referred to, but it is this bill that is now being called into question by Amendola.

Amendola claims that the Bill of Particulars lacks a great deal of specificity in the pages, with names, dates and times being omitted.

The report states that Sandusky's defense did receive a more specific Bill, but there are simply some dates that cannot be recalled by the alleged victims.

Amendola now claims that he cannot properly defend his client without having every last detail spelled out by the victims.

Judge John Cleland is yet to rule on the motion, and jury selection is set for May 14th. It's clear that the next couple of months will be manic as Amendola postures to build a defense of a man that has been scorned by the entire nation.
