UNC Basketball: Tar Heels Whose Pro Stock Will Soar vs. Ohio

Mike MoraitisJun 7, 2018

Kendall Marshall's injury will no doubt hinder the North Carolina Tar Heels in their progress moving forward in the NCAA tournament.

But that just means that other players will have to step up, and in the process, shine on the biggest stage of college basketball.

For some Tar Heels' players with future draft prospects, this is their chance to be noticed and make it into the NBA through the draft.

Here are three Tar Heels whose pro stock will rise in a winning effort over Ohio.

Harrison Barnes

Being that Barnes can create his own offense, it can help ease some of the burden added by losing Marshall running the point. That means more opportunities and a better chance he'll surpass the 17 points per game he averaged during the season.

After scoring 14 and 17 points in his first two games, respectively, Barnes looks due for a big night and will further solidify himself as a superior threat on the offensive side of the ball in North Carolina's Sweet Sixteen matchup with Ohio.

If he can lead the Tar Heels to the National Championship, he could be looking at a top-five pick in the NBA draft.

Tyler Zeller

Zeller is a seven footer who has had a great season with the Tar Heels, averaging 16 points per game and nine rebounds.

If the Tar Heels have problems scoring points without their star point guard, Zeller's defense will become important against Ohio.

His dominance in the paint and ability to score easy buckets could put North Carolina over the top.

Being that big men are at a premium in the NBA, Zeller has a great chance to make a significant jump in the draft with a great performance in the tourney—possibly to top-five.

John Henson

Henson is just another example of the deep roster the Tar Heels have this season.

The 6'11" junior had a great all-around season, averaging almost 14 points and 10 boards per game.

His effort on both sides of the ball will be key in replacing the type of production that Marshall creates and, of course, rebounding and defense is always needed in big games.

NBA teams love to see players with the type of well-rounded production that Henson can provide and if he can step up, he has the potential to convince a lot of NBA teams to pick him even higher up in the draft.
