No.1 Tight End Prospect Adam Breneman: 7 Reasons He Chose Penn State
Adam Breneman is the top tight end in the country for 2013. The Camp Hill, Pennsylvania native is a 6'5", 220-pound dynamite pass catcher that can play like a receiver.
His ball skills, hands, length and speed project him to be a great tight end and got him offers from many of the nation's elite programs. Recently, after considering schools like Notre Dame and Ohio State, Breneman settled on Penn State.
Here are seven good reasons he chose to play in Happy Valley.
7. Rob Gronkowski
1 of 7With Bill O'Brien being the new head coach of the PSU program, the former Patriots OC turned Rob Gronkowski into an All-Pro TE this year.
Gronk set numerous receiving records for a TE in the NFL and Breneman surely figures that he can do similar things for Penn State under O'Brien's direction.
Seeing players like Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez excel as TEs under O'Brien surely has to give Breneman goosebumps.
Yo Soy Fiesta, Adam Breneman style in Happy Valley.
6. To Help Penn State Start Re-Gain Form
2 of 7We all know the heartache, shock and dire straits Penn State went through the past season. From the scandal to Joe Paterno's death, Happy Valley has seen better days.
5. To Help Penn State Recruit and Attract Talent
3 of 7A prime way to get Penn State back to form on the field is to upgrade the talent on the roster. You do that through recruiting.
Breneman has to know that with him being an elite prospect in the 2013 class, players will want to play with him. He's the kind of player a program tells other recruits "come play with Adam."
4. Thoughts of Playing with Robert Foster
4 of 7Scout.com ranks Robert Foster as the No. 1 WR prospect and No. 3 overall player for 2013. Foster is a 6'2", 190-pound receiver from Monaca, Pennsylvania that Penn State wants.
Breneman is going to start putting the press on Foster, as the thought of having an explosive WR on the flanks to open the seams for him is an alluring thought.
3. Christian Hackenburg
5 of 7I haven't been too impressed with QB play at Penn State in years and when you get a pass catching TE like Breneman, you need someone to get him the football.
Well, Penn State has a commitment from 4-star QB Christian Hackenburg, a 6'3", 205-pounder from Virginia. Hackenburg has a thick frame, a strong arm, solid accuracy and the skill set to be a pocket passer that can deliver the football to Breneman down field.
This has to appeal to Breneman.
2. Playing in Bill O'Brien's Offense
6 of 7O'Brien deployed a two-tight end set offense in New England, and with Breneman being a dynamic tight end himself, this has to be a major reason he chose Penn State.
O'Brien is also a football guy through and through, his NFL experience surely will prepare Breneman for a potential NFL career as he will play in a pro-style offense.
1. Proximity to Home
7 of 7Camp Hill is about two hours away from Happy Valley, so pretty much the chance to stay close to home, catch a few balls in front of his friends and family was too much to pass up.
This is a huge get for Bill O'Brien and Penn State, as Breneman should be an early impact player for the Nittany Lions when he arrives in 2013.
