SEC Football: Weekly Recruiting Roundup
Every Wednesday here at The SEC Blog, we will update you on the latest commits, decommits and rumors in the recruiting world.
Commitments:
-LSU got its sixth commitment of the 2013 class over the weekend from athlete John Diarse from Neville High School in Monroe, LA. Diarse plays quarterback, but is rated as the No. 12 safety in the country according to Scout.com. The four-star athlete is capable of playing either defensive back or wide receiver at the next level.
Decommitments:
-It's rare that Alabama loses recruits, but it lost one this week. Artie Burns, a 6'1", 190-pound athlete from Northwestern High School in Miami is back on the market. Burns is rated as the No. 12 cornerback in the country by Scout.com. Alabama is no longer a main player for Burns, who is now considering Miami, Florida State, USC, Louisville and LSU—among other schools.
News and Rumors:
-As we told you earlier in the week, Grayson (GA) High School defensive end Robert Nkemdiche, the nation's No. 1 overall player, will announce his decision on May 18 after Grayson's final scrimmage of spring practice. Finalists include LSU, Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and Ole Miss.
- Shelton Gibson, a four-star wide receiver according to Scout.com, will announce his decision on June 20. SEC suitors for Gibson include Auburn, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt.
- Georgia has been without an On-Campus Recruiting Director since July, but according to Michael Carvell of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, that job will be filled within a couple of weeks. It is interesting to see that 10 percent of this job involves oversight of the staff social networking plan.
