Toronto Maple Leafs: Brian Burke and Randy Carlyle Flip the Bird to Leaf Fans

Bring a shovel.

Randy Carlyle has been a refreshing change from Ron Wilson. Carlyle doesn't like to single players out in front of the microphones and cameras and he also shows more passion.

Brian Burke hasn't had a good track record in Toronto with regards to free agency, but most of his bigger trades have turned out very well.

The intention of this article is not to criticize the work they've done in their time with the Toronto Maple Leafs, but to make you laugh and/or cry at what Leaf fans go through every year.

As Dave Feschuk of the Toronto Star points out:

"

"The video is dated March 9, at which point the Leafs had lost 12 of their past 14 games, were less than a week removed from jettisoning head coach Ron Wilson in a panic move, and had all but assured themselves of extending the longest playoff drought in franchise history to a year short of a decade."

"

Now, Feschuk isn't always right. Some would say he complains a little too much in his columns, sometimes without justification.

Burke has a frosty relationship with many of the media types in Toronto, and while he is right that they're often overly critical of the organization and its players, this new development is simply giving them more ammunition.

On March 9, the Leafs had just finished losing eight of nine games and were about to lose another three straight starting with the 1-0 overtime loss to Philadelphia.

In the oddly cheery video, Burke and Carlyle barely acknowledge the late-season collapse suffered by the team and instead choose to focus on the "positives."

Sure, Phil Kessel and Joffrey Lupul are having career years. Yeah, Detroit and Toronto will face off at the Big House in the New Year. Great, the Marlies are tops in their division.

The Blue and White were in possession of a playoff spot for months. Now, they're 24th in the league and only three points ahead of the 28th place Montreal Canadiens.

Once again, the good-on-paper Toronto Maple Leafs are absolute crap on the ice.

But that's not the worst of it.

The worst part is when the general manager and the head coach of said Leafs tell you everything is OK and ask you to kindly fork over another $16,000.
