Stanford Pro Day: Andrew Luck Will Cement Status as Top QB in 2012 Draft Class
Andrew Luck is finally going to show NFL scouts and GMs his throwing capabilities in a controlled environment during Stanford’s pro day on Thursday, March 22.
The projected No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 draft declined to sling the rock during the NFL Scouting Combine, knowing it could only hurt his stock.
Remember, the QBs at the Indianapolis combine have to toss passes to unfamiliar receivers with whom they do not have any rapport, timing or any other sort of chemistry.
At his pro day, Luck will be throwing to wideouts that he knows and is comfortable with. His performance in Palo Alto is what the Colts—who are widely expected to draft the signal-caller—should expect to see on the field in the NFL.
Luck is also going to separate himself from Robert Griffin III as the best quarterback prospect in the class and prove once and for all that he alone is worthy of the No. 1 pick.
In fact, he must be better, because Indy is reportedly sending scouts to RGIII’s Baylor pro day as well.
Griffin III had an incredible combine that really showcased his immense athleticism, but Luck wasn’t far behind.
The real difference maker is going to be who shines while they are lofting passes to their WRs.
Luck is simply the better of the two in that department and has an NFL-ready arm with incredible mechanics and knack for playing the position. He’s a once-in-a-generation type of talent, and it would be plain foolish for the Colts to skip over him.
It would be unfathomable to see Luck struggle during his pro day, and it will not happen. He’s going to lock up his spot atop the 2012 NFL Draft Thursday afternoon.
