Dallas Cowboys Thinking of Releasing Terrell Owens
The Cowboys are finally making smart moves. ESPN’s Ed Werder is reporting that the ‘Boys are thinking of ridding themselves of Terrell Owens. While the Cowboys have other issues that resulted in the demise of their 2008 season, releasing T.O. is a good start.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is partially against the move because it would create serious salary cap woes for the team. But it isn’t so far fetched because of the team’s chemistry problems. Jerry’s son, Stephen, is attempting to convince his dad that in order for the team to move forward, T.O. has to go.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
I will say; I have to agree with the younger Jones. The Cowboys fell apart after the Cardinals game and T.O. didn’t help by criticizing his quarterback and offensive coordinator. The team has already freed itself of two headaches by releasing Adam “Pacman” Jones and letting Tank Johnson go to free agency.
Sources report that T.O., coupled with Johnson and Jones, contributed to the many locker room issues the Cowboys had during the 2008 season.
While Mr. Jones may think that signing any and all available talent may result in a Super Bowl, he can learn a lot from Redskins owner Daniel Snyder. When Snyder first bought the ‘Skins, he signed every free agent possible in an attempt to buy a championship. The Redskins are still searching for that championship, along with the Cowboys.
If the ‘Boys do decide to get rid of T.O., there are still a number of changes that need to take place in Valley Ranch. If the players ran the locker room and the coach lost control of his team, then Wade Phillips needs to be shown the door as well. The defense excelled under his tutelage, but the team as a whole faltered.
Jerry also made a trade midseason that has turned out to be a colossal mistake. Former Lions wide receiver Roy Williams hasn’t quite worked for the ‘Boys in blue and his constant complaining about not getting the ball did not do much to help team chemistry.
There was also the distraction of HBO’s Hard Knocks, the new multi-billion dollar stadium that the Cowboys are building, and the multiple injuries that the team sustained.
2009 is already shaping up to be an interesting season for Dallas. With no first round picks, the possibility of losing a star wide receiver and a future head coach; will Dallas even have a winning season next year?
