English Premier League Form Table: Ranking All 20 Teams
Manchester United top the table in more ways than one.
If you're reading this article, chances are you know the English Premier League table nearly as well as your telephone number. Just in case, though, here's the full version.
The league table isn't quite what I'm interested in today, though. Today, I'm ranking all 20 English Premier League clubs based on current form.
For the purposes of this list, I've used Football365's form table, which includes each club's eight most recent league matches through March 18. FA Cup, league cup and European matches were not considered.
Here's the link to the form table, and here's a screenshot of the version I used.
If you're ready, let's get started.

20. Wolverhampton Wanderers
1 of 20Poor Wolves. That's all you can really say for them right now.
Since firing manager Mick McCarthy on Feb. 13, Wolves have drawn once and lost their last three by a combined score of 12-0. Yikes
Over their last eight matches, Wolves have collected four points. Double yikes.
Still just one point away from safety, Wolves are nonetheless favorites for relegation.
19. Queens Park Rangers
2 of 20Poor QPR, too.
QPR avoided the bottom spot in the form table only because Wolves have been worse. But make no mistake: Mark Hughes' team has played putrid football lately.
What makes it worse is that QPR signed up a bunch of players in the winter transfer window. But since the window closed, they've drawn two matches and lost four times—including one to Wolves.
In their last eight matches, QPR have taken five points—though, to be fair, they were robbed of at least a point last week.
18. Bolton Wanderers
3 of 20Bolton still find themselves in trouble, but there's reason to be optimistic.
In their last eight matches, Bolton have collected seven points. They gained a vital win over fellow relegation strugglers QPR last week thanks to a bad non-call on a QPR "goal."
That lifted Owen Coyle's side out of the relegation zone, for now. In the meantime, the world is rallying around stricken midfielder Fabrice Muamba.
17. Wigan Athletic
4 of 20Wigan's haul over the last eight games is also seven points, but their goal differential of minus-five is slightly better than Bolton's minus-eight.
That's good enough for 17th position in the form table, but the relegation fight continues in the real version.
16. Stoke City
5 of 20Stoke City sit a relatively comfortable 13th in the real table, but their form has been bad lately.
Five defeats, one win and two draws have brought seven points over the last eight games, with a goal differential of minus-three.
Stoke probably won't find themselves in a relegation battle this season regardless of what happens, but if their poor form continues, their nerves could start fraying.
15. Norwich City
6 of 20For much of the season, Norwich City have hovered around the lower fringes of the top half of the table. But a run of tough matches has seen them drop to 12th.
Losses to Manchester United and Newcastle have contributed to an indifferent run of eight points in their last eight matches.
14. Tottenham Hotpsur
7 of 20Spurs were cruising until recently, all alone in third place and hanging onto the coattails of the Manchester duo.
But then they lost three straight league matches—to Arsenal, Manchester United and Everton. Now, Harry Redknapp's team is just one point ahead of Arsenal and four ahead of Chelsea.
Tottenham's last eight matches have yielded just eight points, with a goal differential of zero.
13. Liverpool
8 of 20Liverpool's run as of late hasn't been much better. The Reds, who now find themselves in seventh place, have lost four of their last eight matches, with two wins and two draws.
Fortunately, they're still alive in the FA Cup, because this season is looking like a bust in the league.
12. Aston Villa
9 of 20Aston Villa currently sit in 15th place, well below their customary top-half finishing position.
If they want to claw their way back up there, they'll have to improve on their run of four draws and two losses in their last eight matches.
11. Blackburn Rovers
10 of 20Finally, here's a team playing above their league position.
Blackburn Rovers have won three and drawn two of their last eight matches, for a haul of 11 points. During that time, they've beaten fellow relegation strugglers QPR and Wolves, but lost to Manchester City and Arsenal in lopsided fashion.
No matter about those matches, though. Thanks to Blackburn's good form in relegation six-pointers, Rovers now find themselves three points above the relegation zone.
10. Newcastle United
11 of 20Newcastle United need a boost if they're going to reach Europe.
Currently sixth, and in line for Europa League qualification, the Geordies have lost three and drawn two of their last eight matches for a haul of 11 points.
There's still a chance Newcastle could catch Chelsea and maybe Arsenal, but they'll have to start grinding out better results.
9. Chelsea
12 of 20Chelsea's form has been excellent since the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas. But there's still the issue of their form right before his departure.
In their last eight matches, the Blues have lost twice and drawn three times, with three wins. But as recent results show, they seem to have turned it around.
So much, in fact, that Fernando Torres scored twice over the weekend. Unbelievable.
8. Everton
13 of 20Everton and manager David Moyes are earning a reputation for giant-slaying thanks to recent wins over Spurs and Manchester City.
A home match against Arsenal is next, and Everton will be looking to improve on a haul of 13 points in their last eight matches.
7. Sunderland
14 of 20It's hard to figure out Sunderland. After starting the season in awful form under former manager Steve Bruce, the Black Cats turned it around under Martin O'Neill.
But for all their progress, Sunderland's results still boggle the mind sometimes. How, for instance, did they lose 4-0 at West Bromwich Albion?
6. Swansea City
15 of 20Swansea City play attractive football, and lately that has translated into good results.
The Swans have won four of their last eight, but that run also includes three defeats. Regardless, that 3-0 win at Fulham over the weekend was pretty impressive, and Gylfi Sigurdsson is a good little player.
5. Fulham
16 of 20Here's why that win was so impressive for Swansea. Fulham's form had been even better.
But with that loss, Fulham's points total over the last eight games is now 13—exactly like Swansea. The Cottagers have a better goal differential, though, at plus-three.
4. West Bromwich Albion
17 of 20How about a round of applause for West Bromwich Albion and manager Roy Hodgson?
The Baggies beat Chelsea 1-0 on March 3, a result that led directly to Andre Villas-Boas' sacking at Chelsea.
During the last eight matches, West Brom have also beaten Sunderland 4-0 and Wolves 5-1. That's given them 13 points with a goal differential of plus-6.
All the success has led to Hodgson being (improbably) linked to the vacant England manager's post.
3. Arsenal
18 of 20If not for a few pesky results at the back end of their recent form, Arsenal might be the hottest team in England.
The first two matches of Arsenal's eight-match form were both losses. On Jan. 15 the Gunners fell 3-2 at Swansea City. Seven days later they lost 2-1 to Manchester United at the Emirates.
Those two losses were the last two in a three-match skid.
Since then, though, Arsene Wenger's team is undefeated, with five straight wins to their name. A scoreless draw at Bolton was followed by a 7-1 demolition of Blackburn.
Since then, the Gunners have beaten Sunderland, Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle in succession—thanks, in three cases, to late, late, late winners.
All the late drama has translated into 16 points over Arsenal's last eight matches.
2. Manchester City
19 of 20Roberto Mancini's Manchester City finally fell off the top spot recently, but it wasn't because of bad form.
Over their last eight matches, the Blues have won six and lost two. Unfortunately for them, though, that's just not good enough right now.
1. Manchester United
20 of 20Arsenal and Manchester City have displayed excellent form lately, but it's nothing compared to Manchester United.
The Red Devils are on fire, having won seven and drawn in their last eight matches. That translates to 22 points and top spot in both the form table and real table.
Over the last eight matches, United's only blip was a 3-3 draw at Chelsea—a game in which United trailed 3-0 at one point.
Since then the Red Devils have won five straight by a combined score of 14-3. That's bad news for the rest of the English Premier League.
